Fort Worth, Texas - Jack Dempsey Saffle was born on April 27, 1938 in his home on a farm in Robinson Texas to Charles Clifton and Lucille Saffle. He was the 3rd born of 5 boys, Charles, Tom, Richard and Robert Eugene (Bob).

He graduated from University High School in Waco Texas January of 1956, after skipping the 4-6 and 6-8 grades. After High School, he joined the United States AirForce to help pay for his future college tuition and served overseas in Japan.

Jack married the love of his life Ida Mae Lewis on April 14, 1961 and had 3 children, Steven Adron Saffle, Angela Kay Saffle and Kathryn Lucille Saffle-Jacobs. A husband and father of 3, he managed to work 40-50 hours a week, was a full-time student and made the Dean's List. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Science and his Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics, from the University of Texas at Arlington.

He retired from Exxon Mobil Oil after 26 years of service as a Systems Analysis. He had numerous achievements and was highly regarded in his field. After retirement, he built their dream home Saffle Farms in Oakwood, TX. He was married to the love of his life for 62 years. They loved gardening and working the land and taking the grandkids for rides on his tractor.

The last 10 years he waged war against cancer, relocated back to Fort Worth to be closer to their family. On November 1, 2023, he finished his last fight and was ushered into heaven on the wings of God's glorious angels to be forever with the Lord and his loved ones that went before him.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Angela Kay, brothers, Charles, Tom and Robert Eugene (Bob), brother-in-law's Corporal Michael Lee Lewis and Rocky Hazlett and sister-in-law Diane Hooten.

Jack will be loved and missed by his sister-in-law's, Vicki Hazlett-Podsednik, Donna Saffle, numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren James, Stephanie, Jacob, Sara, Michael Lee, Morgan, Wyatt, Hudson and Jamie along with 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Greenwood Chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11 on White Settlement Rd, Pastor Wade Deforest officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park.

The family would be honored if you planted a tree in a National Forest, neighborhood local park or your own yard. Jack would love that. Jack planted trees. Jack loved trees.

Uncle Jack had a great sense of humor and my memories of visiting Texas as a kid, uncle Charles was the serious one and Uncle Jack and Richard were the funny ones.

As a kid growing up in the 80s and early 90s we would always say the CBS anchor Dan Rather looked a lot like Uncle Jack!

It's been a while since I last talked to Uncle Jack but he was still fighting way back then. I hope that he gets the rest now that he so deserves.

God bless the family in Texas and know that the Saffles in Maryland are thinking of you.
