Jimmie Pierson Obituary

Jimmie Duane "Jim" Pierson, 69, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.
Funeral: Noon Thursday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 2 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane B, Dallas. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home.
Jim was born in Grand Junction, Colo., to Choice and Velma Pierson in March 1938. His family moved to Texas that fall. At the age of 14, he committed his life to Christ. Jim graduated from Weatherford High School in 1956. That fall, Jim began college and his 30-year tenure in the banking industry. He worked at Arlington National Bank from 1956 to 1968. Jim married the girl of his dreams, Elizabeth Ann Starnes, in 1959. They had three children. Jim served his country from October 1961 through March 1966 in the first Airborne 144th infantry and 49th armored division. He was activated during the Berlin Crisis of 1961.
Jim had a very strong work ethic throughout his life. His legacy of hard work and serving the Lord has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. Jim had a passion for music and loved playing the guitar. Jim won the hearts of people quickly with his winning smile and firm hand shake. He was a great encourager. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who love him.
Survivors: Father, Choice Arthur Pierson; mother, Velma Smith Pierson; wife, Elizabeth Anne Pierson; son, Mark Duane Pierson and wife, Helen; daughters, Darla Sue Coker and husband, Rann, and Mendy Hale and husband, Brad; brother, Tom Pierson and wife, Debbie; and grandchildren, Candace, Clint, Marrissa, Camrann, Baleigh, Isaac, Cassidy, Megan, Aaron, Skylar and Calvrann.

I worked with Jim at Broadway Plaza and was very glad that I got to know him while he was there. He always made me laugh and realize I was important in my job. He was greatly missed when he left to pursue other projects. God be with you at this time and know that he is resting peacefully with his loving God.
