Barney was more than just my Father-in-law, he was my friend and like a father to me. He was giving, forgiving and loved life to it's fullest extent. One particular memory I have of Barney is when my Mother passed away and we (Joe and I) were still in Montana. We had just returned from our youngest son's wedding in Nebraska (and we had been driving for two days) when I received the call that my Mother had passed away (also from cancer). Joe and I were planning on leaving the next day and drive to Texas as fast as we could when I was told that my mother would be buried before we could even get there. Barney with all the love of his precious heart called and said "Darla and I want to buy you and Joe airline tickets to get you there in time for the funeral". "Afterall" he said "What good is money if you can't help your kids when they need it". I love Barney and all he represented to me. He showed me the true path of a christian and I will carry his memory in my heart till I see him again. Joe and I will be sure to tell Wyatt (his Great Grandson) about him so that Barney's legacy will live on through Wyatt and his children. Joe say's "Dad was never my "old man", he was always my father. Enough said." I love you Darla and I pray that the peace of God will engulf you and comfort you always. Love, Joe and Andy

Hello Darla & Kids,

I am touched to hear of your loss...I can recall how everytime Dad & I would happen to be in your neighborhood that I would beg him to stop & see Barney & Darla...It was as if I wasn't even a kid when I was around you...You always treated me so kindly & helped me to feel my place in the World with respect.

My most distinct memory was of the time after Church we had lunch together at Wyatts Cafeteria (one of thousands of times, I'm sure!) and we went back to your place. That was the first time that Barney & I ever really 'played' together & he gave me the old little train set, that I enjoyed hours of tinkering with, (it came out every X-Mas after that) as well as some other cool little toys...(thanks to Joe & Billie)

I also remember running into Barney @ a Bell Helicopter open house. I felt like such a Big Boy to see a kind, familiar face who showed me up close & personal the aircraft there...I remember being on the flight line with him & he picking me up & putting me into one of the helicopters that he worked on.

Of all adults at the church when I was a kid, I remember you 2 the best! Don't think that I have ever forgotten all the coloring books that you brought me when I was in the hospital, oh so many times. You even brought love & compassion to me at our family home when I was recovering on several occasions. You always had time for a visit.

Thank you Barney & Darla for touching my life...you never know who & how you effect one's life with your presence! When I think of Texas, you 2 often occur to me.

I also want to express deep gratitude to you both for all the personal letters that you 2 kept coming to me when I was away to Sea in the Navy, especially during Operation Desert Storm. You have no idea how that keeps a serviceman going...

To Billie... I recall you & Greg doing a roofing job together & you had your shirt off because it was of course Hot...you may not remember why, but I'll always remember how you helped me to accept myself better that day. I am sure that is Thanks to the Good Dad you had! You have touched my life too!

I am Truly Sorry Darla that your best friend is not on this Earthly (3rd dimensional matter) Plane any longer...but, I have been to the other side & I know he is within all the Dimensions now & Never far away...His Loving arms are wrapped around you right now, & you are both together far all eternity...if you just close your eyes, you are together again! Feel my Loving Embrace as well. I love you all, thanks for affecting me so & giving me such a Huge Family Grace Temple!
All my Love,
Andy Gieger

Barney was my mentor as a young flight test engineer. You could always depend on him to keep you out of trouble. Later after he retired my family and I always saw him and his wife at the "Cafeteria". He always came over to visit with my girls. We have truly lost a great person.

Being around Barney was always an experience, a good experience. He taught me how to catch trout off of the jetty at Port Aransas.

Dear Barnoski Family,

No words could express my sorrow upon hearing about Barney. Although I only knew Barney from the blowing alley, I always thought he was such a sweet and gentle soul. I will miss him greatly. My prayers are with you...

Barney was one of my most favorite people in the whole world. He and Darla are simply precious. I will miss him...what a wonderful man. But it's awesome to know that right now he's in the presence of Jesus. Wow! Our God is so faithful.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Darla and the family. They are such wonderful people.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of "Barney's" family during this difficult time.

I had not seen "Barney" since I retired from Bell. When I was a pilot at Experimental Flight Test -"Barney" was very often assigned as the mechanic on the aircraft I was flying - he was an excellent mechanic and a great friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Sincerely -

Barney was a very special person and will be greatly missed. Even though he wasn't family by blood but he was just like family. I knew him all my life and consider him a great friend. There will be a void here on earth that no one can fill but the Holy Spirit.

Barney has been around all of my life, he was a dear family friend of all of my family. We will all miss him so much. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. The last time we had lunch with Barney and Darla was at Schlotsky's after church, we enjoyed that fellowship so much!
