Larry Vasseur Obituary

Larry A. Vasseur, 58, a resident of Fort Worth and a former longtime resident of Waxahachie, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006.

Graveside service: Private service for the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Memorials: charity of choice.

He was born March 11, 1947, in Evansville, Ind., and moved to Waxahachie in 1958. After graduation from Waxahachie High School in 1965, he attended Hill Junior College prior to entering the Air Force, where he served as a medic. Larry was an accomplished salesman, primarily in the field of medical equipment. However, his passion was music. Larry was a gifted drummer who enjoyed reminiscing about his "touring" years. Larry enjoyed the simple things in life, like a good meal and conversation. His quick wit and sense of humor earned him many friends, and he regretted not being able to spend more time with them over the last several years. Larry's pride and joy was his beautiful, talented daughter, Dani, who is a sophomore at the University of North Texas. Larry carried a folded-up piece of paper with him in his wallet:

"Your True Character Is"

"Your true character is revealed by the clarity of your convictions, the choices you make, and the promises you keep. Hold strongly to your principles and refuse to follow the currents of convenience. What you say and do defines who you are ... and you are you forever."

Survivors: Daughter, Ashley Danielle Vasseur; brother, Gary Vasseur; sister-in-law, Suzanne; niece, Kate; nephew, Nathan; numerous cousins and aunts; and an uncle.

I know this is very late but I just googled Larry and saw this. I am so sorry. Larry lived with me, Ronny Tanner and Bill Looney in that old farm house while we attended Hill Jr College. Masseur was quite a guy. We laughed more with him than we studied. He always had a smile going. We carried his drums when he played gigs in Dallas. I've been telling Vasseur stories to my kids and friends for years, not knowing. Sad.

On a Fluke I was thinking about Larry the other day and it just happened I did a search. Sadly, I did not think this would be the 1st thing to pop up.
I was a Coworker in the Medical sales game with Larry. I did not know he was an AF Medic as I also was. We never spoke of those things.
It was more the here and now and the living Life to the max is what we spoke of.
His Memory came up as I viewed a history channel story on Friday's.
When Fridays opened in Dallas it was EPIC. Greenville Ave.
Larry Lived in the Villages. He was known as the Father.
All the youngsters new to Dallas and the bright Lights came to him for Advice. He was like the person everyone looked up to.
It was an Honor to have known him.
Some people are just the best.
That was Larry.

I remember going with Gary to Dallas to see his brother and the band he played with. It was a great night.

I remember when I worked at Kelly, Geren and Searcy....where Larry's Brother Gary Vasseur worked, Larry would walk in and light the office up with his smile....he was always happy....Condolences go out to Gary and his family and to Vickie a longtime friend of Larry's, who is still at Kelly, Geren and Searcy. He was always bright and cheery..
