Mary Fries Obituary

Mary Evelyn Fries, 96, passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2009.
Service: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Evelyn was 96 years old when she went to meet her husband, Charlie, in the Father's house. She was a tough, hard-working woman who loved people and loved life. She was blessed with stamina, motivation and a drive that carried her 96 years. She had little fear of new situations and never met a stranger. She was my dad's business partner in the refrigeration business and the motel business. She loved to cook, fish and talk to people. She truly had the gift of gab.
Her eccentric ways and her character defects were born in the hard times of the Depression and her early life. These traits were covered over by her determination, drive and loyalty. Her view of life was simple, basic and fundamental.
Evelyn loved family, friends and all people. I hope she enters her rest with lots of new challenges, plenty of people to visit and time with her husband, who was very dependent on her.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Fries; daughter, Janette McClenny; and grandson, Jerry Fries.
Survivors: Son, Dr. Charles Fries and wife, Janis, of Tyler; brother, Bob Old; granddaughters, Karen Harps and Kathy Fries; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Charles, your mother sounded like a very neat lady and someone that would be fun to visit with. She could probably teach us what is really important in our lives. It is very painful to lose a loved one, no matter what their age. Donald and Vivian
