Melissa D'Ann Guthrie was born Oct. 28, 1980, in Fort Worth, the daughter of Rick and Cindy Guthrie. Melissa was free-spirited and a lover of animals. She was a lover of life and loved to ride motorcycles and spend time outdoors. Melissa was an unconditional friend.
Melissa was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Eddie Amaro and Ed Guthrie; and great-grandparents, Al and Eleanor Wiesman and Jim Barrow.
Survivors: Parents, Rick and Cindy Guthrie of Fort Worth; sister, Shauna Guthrie of Fort Worth; grandmothers, Judy Amaro and Joyce Guthrie, both of Fort Worth; great-grandparents, Felix and Lorenza Amaro of Richland Hills; uncle, Steve Amaro and wife, Debbie, of Arlington; cousin, Cheyenne Amaro; boyfriend, Christopher G. Rader of Fort Worth; and many other dear friends and extended family.

Just thinking about you! I was going to paint the baby room, and dont want to do it by myself. I know we talked about doing this kind of thing so many times, in those late night talks of ours. For some reason I was thinking of you and decided to see if the obit was still open. Low and behold it came up and showed me a beautiful smiling face. I'm so glad you are still there. This is my first time to talk to you. I think about you all the time. Especially while eating at Cotton Patch. We ate so healthy when we went there. (ha ha) As I'm sure you know, Jaclyn got through graduation and is now going to school at Hill College. Jerod is still Jerod. He is doing fine. I miss your smiling face and that beautiful laugh of yours. I hope you don't have a hard time walking in those high heels in heaven. As you know, Bill and his mom have joined you up there. Keep an eye on him if he gets out of line. I will write to you again soon. Uwe, Jaclyn and Jerod say they love and miss you. Keep smiling on us so we can get through this day by day.

The thought of loosing a child is beyond comprehension! It is not the way it should be. The only piece one can have with such a life changing event is that God has a better plan and Melissa is not in his hands and she is very happy with her new life. The difficulity your family now faces is how to move on with only her memories to hold on to. Once again God has a better plan and he will be there for each of you. My heart aches for all of you. I know the pain seems unbearable now and will for a long time. Your precious child was taken from you way too soon and the anger and pain are natural. Cindy, I know you and Rick have a love that will pull you through the darkest moments, which will be there for a long time. We have no control over when the Lord wants us to go home, I just know that one day I will see Melissa again. My heavy heart hurts to know that a friend is no longer with us. Dear Cindy, Rick, and Shauna...
There are no words to express how sad we are for you, how deeply we hurt for you. To have had Melissa for 25 years and to lose her so suddenly, so tragically is too much to bear. But Rick and Cindy, what a wonderful child you made! What a glorious woman she became! What a magnitude of people she touched! That was apparent from the beginning of this ordeal and on through to the beautiful memorial service held in her name. It was beautiful and reflected her as she truly was. She brought so many people together from so many walks of life. All to celebrate her life. We Pray that God will be with you in these darkest moments, and carry you through with his love and strength. Melissa is with you always, everywhere! And nothing will ever change that.
We are so grateful that you have such a strong sense of family within your family and your extended family. You will find much strength through those who love you in your times of need and pain.

I didn't know Missy for a very long time, but I considered her a trusted friend. She never hesitated to make a newcomer feel welcome. She will be greatly and truly missed. Strong woman of faith, I look forward to the day that I will see you again.
