Monte Herron Obituary
Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brock Baptist Church, 105 Lazy Bend Road, Brock. Interment: Brock Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
Monte Lee Herron was born June 19, 1957, in Weatherford, the son of Lee and Fay Jean Elders Herron. Monte lived his entire life in the Weatherford area and was a Baptist. He was a good, loving father and a wonderful grandfather to his three grandchildren, with whom he loved sharing his animals.
Monte was the manager at Brazos Valley Garden Center, formerly known as Cole's Nursery. His hobbies included making western-style mirrors, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Monte was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, A.D. and Lorene Elders; paternal grandfather, Bill Herron; and aunt, Gloria Gail Shires.
Survivors: Son, Robert Lee Herron of Weatherford; daughter, Rachel Faye Marshall and husband, Brian, of Wilson, Okla.; grandchildren, Paige and Hayden Herron and Hunter Marshall; parents, Lee and Fay Herron of Weatherford; brothers, Steve Herron and wife, Candy, and Odell Herron and wife, Kelly, all of Brock; grandmothers, Lucille Pair and Mable Herron; several aunts and uncles; and a wonderful uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Monte holds a special place in my heart. His love for the "ole folks" grandparents, great grandparents, and great uncles was his delight. I remember him faithfully checking on A.D. and Lorine..Papa Savage and grandma... he never took them for grandied and loved their closness. One summer Papa Savage was determined to go Ft.Worth with a load of watermelons and needed Monte to help load them. He was at work and I jumped in to volunteer. How hard could it be to put a few watermelons in the back of a pickup? I learned real fast I didn't have any Ideal how to load watermelons. But, I had some good teachers. A.D. Lorine and Papa Savage. I had to hold them right, place them right, and stack them right....needless to say with that west sun blazing down on me I wanted to throw in the towel but when I watched three others more than twice my age working harder than me....well I had to stayed for the duration....but eventually I heard that ole pickup of Monte's coming up the road and was I relieved...He came to my rescue ....loving to see me sweat!!....I told him I'd never try to fill his shoes again....I Loved him as a true brother and I know he's happy to be with his "ole folks" again. Faye and Lee you can be proud of the way you raised him. He loved and appreciated you.

Our time on this earth is but a small part of God's overall plan for us. Though he will be dearly missed, Monty is with our Lord and our prayers are with you.
