Rita Cody Obituary

Rita Ann Cody
November 4, 1937 - September 9, 2022
Fort Worth, Texas - Rita Ann Cody, also known as "Sam" to many of her friends and work acquaintances through the years, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022. She was 84 years old.
Born on November 4, 1937 in Wichita Falls, TX, Rita was a graduate of the class of 1956 from Paschal High School, where she played drums in the PHS Band. After graduation, Rita attended the Brantley Draughon Business College in Fort Worth and spent her professional career in executive assistant positions, including Executive Secretary to the President of 1st National Bank of Fort Worth and Administrative Secretary for the Engineering Dept. At Lockheed Martin. She retired in 2003.
Rita was an artist, a seamstress, a golfer, loved dancing and traveling, and she loved cats. Her passion was ballroom dancing-Rita excelled at dancing, taking part in dancing competitions and frequently made her own costumes through the years.
Rita was a true "spitfire" person-you could say in both mind and spirit. It was an endearing quality. She never backed down from a challenge, and when she put her mind to something…it was usually accomplished.
Rita is survived by her husband, Loy Rooke of Fort Worth; 11 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; brother, Gary Cody of Granbury; several nieces and nephews.

On behalf of all the members of the F-16XL family, we want to express our sincere condolences on the loss of this wonderful and beautiful lady. Sam was the secretary to Clarence Hart, Chief Engineer on the F-16XL program, and she was excellent! Sam was our cheerleader and muse, sharp as a tack, and always had uplifting things to say in any situation, especially to encourage the young engineers on the team when things were most difficult. Our prayers go out her family at this very sad time.
May God bless Sam Cody!

Oh no! Not Norita the prettiest girl on Pulaski Street in the 1940's! Played Hide-and-seek, Kick the can, Red rover, monopoly and chess, which she beat me at with regularity. Rest in peace, pretty lady!
