Robert Ferguson Obituary

Robert Earl Ferguson FORT WORTH--Robert Earl Ferguson went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2017. FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 917 Lamar St., Fort Worth, Texas, 76102. MEMORIALS: Charitable contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Robert is remembered for his kindness, generous spirit, his ready laugh and his sly sense of humor. He was a blessing to many. A native of Fort Worth, Robert was born on July, 13, 1953, to Ben M. and Helen Snyder Ferguson. He received his degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where on his Facebook page, he claims he studied Lone Star beer and Bob Wills music. He remained an avid Longhorn fan and an independent investor throughout his life. In 1979, Robert was smitten beyond words by the lovely TCU Horned Frog, Vivian Lea Brooks. They married in 1983, and she never allowed his affection for the Texas Longhorns and Fox News to intervene in their blessed 33-year marriage! Robert was drawn to everything outdoors, whether it be golfing, fishing, observing wildlife or simply the cowboy culture as attested by his collection of art, cowboy boots and hats, and his Plains Cutting Horse Association Champion 500 Novice belt buckle. Robert was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew's, River Crest Country Club, Steeplechase and Ridotto. He will be sincerely missed as a loving husband to Vivian, brother, uncle and a dear friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Helen Ruth Ferguson; sister, Susie Ferguson; and his precious son, Ryan Earl Ferguson. SURVIVORS: Beloved wife, Vivian; stepbrother, Jim Owens and wife, Peggy; his dogs, Ricky and Lucy; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who miss him dearly.

Robert was an extraordinarily daring bidder in Texas 42 dominoes. We played together monthly, and playing with him was always out of this world exciting. I will miss his sly smile. I will miss his great humor. I will miss his great laugh.

We will not be the same without Robert. I find great comfort in knowing that we will see him again in the Father's loving presence.
