Amy

Marc and I want to send our condolences and let you know that you are in are thoughts.

Do you remember our Las Vegas trip and the taxi ride from downtown back to the strip. We still tell our friends of that story and how when we finally got to Caesar's Palace the driver stopped right in front of a religious shrine and Todd jumped out and kissed the ground. I'm just sorry we never had a chance to go back to Vegas together. Though we will always have our memories.

If ever you get a chance to come to our area we love to show you and your boys the fall colors. Keep in touch

Wow, I just found out about Todd's death; very shocking to say the least.

First, I'd like to give my condolences to his family, and everyone that was very close to him. Todd and I were friends in college, but we didn’t stay in touch, as so often happens, and it wasn’t until maybe a year ago that I finally reconnected with him, through a mutual association with Camp Grady Spruce.

For his friends and family, I have a couple of memories of Todd that I’d like to share.

I was a DU pledge in 1987. Pledges, naturally, were universally hated by the initiated members, and I was the most universally hated pledge, a status not easily attained. Except, Todd didn’t hate me! Even though I’d given everyone plenty of reasons to disapprove of me, Todd treated me like a human being and we became fast friends. Maybe it’s because we have/had the same birthday; March 25th.

I remember he invited me to go down to Texas with him once to meet his parents, so I jumped at the chance. Seems like he drove a mini-van, if I remember correctly? At any rate, Todd had recently purchased a 6-pack of Guinness Extra Stout, and that was our road-trip fuel. I’ve been a fan of Guinness ever since, and I’ve remembered Todd every time I’ve had one. Also, he loaded up a KISS cassette (this was before CD’s were in vogue) and cranked “Lick it up!” as high as the speakers would go. We sang that song all the way to Dallas, and again, every time I hear that song I think about Todd!

I bought my first guitar from Todd. I can’t remember if it was his guitar, or whether it was his parents’ guitar, but it was a nylon-stringed, classical guitar, and I’m pretty sure I paid $50 for it. It was worth a lot more than that, but Todd just wanted somebody to get some use out of it, and saw that I was interested, so made me a deal. I’ve been playing guitar ever since because, as Jimmy Buffett put it, “Once that bug bites you, you live with the sting.”

Finally, ever the stylish “Wall-Street” type, Todd had a *really* nice, 100% wool trench-coat that he’d outgrown, so he gave it to me. This was a $300 coat in 1988, so it was the single nicest garment that I’d ever owned in my entire life. Come to think of it, it may be the single nicest garment I’ve ever owned! I wore it until the mid-90’s, when it finally “shrank” [cough], and I had to give it to somebody else. I don’t remember who I gave it to now, but I like to think that somebody is appreciating it as much as I did.

Another time, after Todd had graduated, a buddy of mine & I went to Dallas to spend our spring-break with him. We hung out at his apartment, listened to music, and generally had a really good time. I’m trying to think of whether I have pictures from that visit or not? Maybe somewhere… (?)

What a great guy. I know that you guys know how cool he was far better than I ever will, but I just wanted to share with you that from what I knew of Todd, he’d always been cool. Always.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’ll miss him, as will everyone who knew him.
