Sandy,
I just learned of your loss. I have great memories of the pranks and antics he played on me in my youth. He was bigger than life itself. There was never a time when I saw him that he failed to make me smile.

Hello Sandy,
We are cousins. Belle and Doris Jean, are first cousins and grew up in Abilene together. My grandma was Frances. I regret that we were not in attendance at the funeral as I was out of town attending to another grieving friend in NC, when mom called with the news about Wayne. And I am mom's source of transportation these days.
Please accept my sympathies and know that you are in our prayers. I pray that you will find strength and comfort now.

Sandy,
I lived on Black Oak Lane and knew Wayne from Castleberry Elementary School through Castleberry High School. We walked home many times with the other children that lived on Black Oak Lane. Wayne was always out and about on his bike. Wayne's father and brother worked endlessly in the family garage building cars. Wayne told me and Greata Rinefeldt his brother was going to win the Indianapolis Five Hundred. The last time I saw Wayne he was managing a train compartment restaurant on Eagle Mountain Lake. He told me he had married a beauty queen and was the father of three beautiful daughters. He was full of life and happy living in Weatherford. I was schocked when a Castleberry friend asked me last night if I knew Wayne had passed. Even through I have not seen Wayne in year's I will miss his quick smile. I feel sad knowing I will not see him again. I know a big light has been removed from your life. My prayers and thoughts are with you and Wayne's entire family. He was very young for God to call home, but as mortals we never know the plans of God.

The message that Gretchen Luper sent to Wayne's dear family--Sandy, Daughters & spouses & grands! That is one of the most beautiful messages I have ever read!!

Gretchen Luper

August 4, 2012

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

We were so sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. We spent many hours at the ballpark with Wayne when our daughter Jamie was playing ball with Reagan on Da Girls softball team. He kept us entertained with his stories and his constant joking around with Christina's grandma - there was never a dull moment when Wayne was around! I know you will all miss him so much - our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sandy, girls, and family -
One thing you can always be sure of, and take great comfort in, is how much Wayne loved you all. He loved to tell stories of the girls and their antics while growing up. We learned some very interesting things about the girls from him! In the difficult days ahead we hope you take comfort in knowing that he is walking with Jesus.

Sandy and girls - our thoughts and prayers are with you. John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Regan and Dan,
May GOD bless you with his presence and give you His strength and comfort in this time of your loss.

My prayer is that this loss will draw each and everyone in your family together to hold and cherish the memories of your departed loved one.

All I can say from a personal prespective is: I am sorry that each of you are having to go through this at such an young age, but that GOD will shower His comfort of peace on both of you and Raylan.

I also know that both of you will always remind Raylan what a special Grandfather she had.

I will be happy to share your sorrow anytime you feel the need, just call me.

GOD'S Blessings to you.
