Albert Daniel Swain

Swain Albert Daniel Swain, 87, of Olmsted Twp, OH died Friday, November 1, 2013, in his home at The Renaissance. He was born in Columbus, OH on January 15, 1926 to Francis E. and Marjorie (Daniel) Swain. He was the beloved husband of LaVerne (nee Bastel) for 63 years. Albert was a graduate of West High School, Columbus, OH, in the class of 1944. He holds a B.S. degree in business from Miami University (OH). A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in China during World War II. He was employed in Accounts Payable at Republic Steel (LTV), Cleveland, OH for 30 years before retirement. Albert was a member of Masonic Ashler Lodge #639, Twinsburg, OH and a congregant of Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights, OH. For a number of years he was active in Maple Heights Republican Club. A skilled golfer, he also enjoyed walking and gardening. He loved to travel. "Al" was the dear brother of Joseph (Vivian) Swain of St. Louis, MO, and Marjorie (John) Evans, Clayton, CA. He was uncle to Matthew Swain of O'Fallon, MO, Elizabeth Swain, Thousand Oaks, CA, Donald Swain, Lowell, OR, Steven Evans, Hinsdale, IL, Michael Evans, Palo Alto, CA, and Suzanne (Gerry) Morgan, Denver, CO. He is survived by 13 great-nieces and great-nephews. A friend to many, he will be sadly missed. Services: Private graveside services for family and close friends will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg, OH at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association will be greatly appreciated.
