Albert Ernest Weller Jr.

Weller Albert Ernest Weller, Jr., 85, born November 9, 1927 in Wheeling, WV, and died September 4, 2013 at his home in Marble Cliff, OH. Bert graduated from Wheeling High School in 1945, where he held the state discus throwing record. He served in the United States Army in occupied Korea. Bert played football for Northwestern University as an offensive lineman, and was graduated in 1950 with a BS in chemical engineering. He worked at the Battelle Memorial Institute from 1950 to his retirement in 1992. He was the author or co-author of many technical papers, and the holder of a number of patents. He was a member of the Sigma Xi and the American Chemical Society. He was married to Nova Jean Anderson on October 1, 1955. They have three children, Lynn (Roger Brucker), Gary (Heidi) and Chip (Lynda Titterington); and three grandsons, Andy, Ben and Eric. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth, in Wheeling, WV. Bert was actively involved in many activities, including ham radio (WD8KBW), and especially forestry and the care and maintenance of his beloved land in Vinton County. There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. 1st. Ave., Grandview Hts., where friends may call 1 hour prior to service.
