Greetings...
To: CPL. Andre L. Williams--

I receive notifications in my email every time there is a new entry added to your Guest Book. Well today I decided to come by for a little visit and I read a few of the latest beautiful entries written in your remembrance. They were all sweet and very touching. As I read on, the sadness of missing you could still be so deeply felt, as the sting of your death is just as evident today as it must've been then when they first learned of your tragic demise following that fateful day almost ten years ago on July 28th, 2005. Even though I never had the good fortune of knowing you, the sadness of your young life snuffed out in the Iraq war is a great painful loss that profoundly resonates with me. You enlisted to serve this country because you believed in what we stood for. I remember watching one Memorial Day Weekend the documentary about your Battalion Company from Ohio and the massive loss to that community. I recall them showing what happened to your Company. I know your death happened suddenly, in the line of duty without warning, which is all too often the unfortunate narrative of the perils of war. Your courage and bravery to enlist to do a job that some of us wouldn't even dare entertain for one second as an option for a career-- but you did. Such bravery makes your death more than just a casualty of war, especially to those I've read who loved you-- You and your fellow fallen battalion soldiers are indeed our heroes. Saying thank you for your service to this country knowing you paid the ultimate sacrifice in doing so feels like such an inadequate expression of gratitude; nonetheless, it's still so very necessary and well beyond being deserved; so again I say, "THANK YOU!" I do vow to keep praying for your family and friends and others left behind like yours that they too will continue to find the strength to keep going on cherishing the memories they have of you and their loved ones too. God bless your family and may your memory live on forever because WE SHALL NEVER FORGET!!!---
Love and Shalom Always~

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Williams Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

Andre,we still miss you very much. Your uncle and I were talking about your last visit to California. How you and your friend was sitting on the dirt road, way of the beaten path waiting for me to pick you up. How excited you were to visit Hollywood, Griffith Park and meeting several of the Park Rangers.

Andre, after almost five years I can finally speak your name without crying but I can't write in your Guest Book yet without crying. I am sure God will take care of that in time like He does everthing else.

I always pray for your children, dad, mom, sister and brothers.

Andre, we love you very much.

Dear Dre'
Memorial Day comes soon and as I think of my friends who died during my fist deployment I also think of you. I really do wish that I knew you better. I still remember the first I met you as a teenager. The last time I saw you was when grandma was sick and past away. I have so many thoughts in my mind but don't know what to do with them. I am truly sorry that I didnt know you better my cousin.
Aunt Mary, I am truly truly sorry that I came home an that Dre didn't. I really wish that I could change it, I sincerely do. I hope that my dad gave you the flag that I flew in baghdad in honor of Dre. I know it is little but I don't know what else to have done.
I do not have the words to say how I feel inside and what my thoughts are so I will end this.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Memorial Day is the time for Americans to reconnect with their history and core values by honoring those who gave their lives for the ideals we cherish.

More than a million American service members died in the wars and conflicts this nation fought since the first colonial soldiers took up arms in 1775 to fight for independence. Each person who died during those conflicts was a loved one cherished by family and friends. Each was a loss to the community and the nation.

Thank you for your service to this Country!!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Though fallen you are not forgotten,

Remebered...

In every American flag across the nation

In every patriotic song that will be sung.

Remebered..

In every twinkle of your children's eye

In every tear that your battle brothers cry.

And although freedom is supposed to be free,

You have paid the ultimate price for the people like me.

The goverment rewards you with a flag and a purple heart,

But we pray for your families that have been torn apart.

Rest in peace Dre, knowing you are remembered always,

And because you've sacraficed your life,

A legacy you'll be even after our days."

I waited awhile to post this! I waited for something to come to me so I could put something down that would help people remember the greatest hero I have ever known. I wasn't really sure what a hero was until I heard dre was killed fighting for my freedom. I guess I really didn't understand even though I have a lot of family that have severed and are hero's themselves. I have known dre since I was in 6th grade. I'm not really good with emotions and all but once we started down w broad to take dre to his resting place and I saw people standing on the side of the road holding up American flags with children standing in front of them holding signs that read "Goodbye to a true hero" I almost crashed into the car in front of me. At that point it hit me and I really understood. Once we arrived at the cemetery I placed my hands on his casket and that pretty much broke me down. All I want to do from this point on is to say “DRE THANK YOU”!!!

Robert, Mary and family, I saw your pictures in the Charlotte paper and wanted to find a way to get in touch with your family. My brother was killed in 1983 in the bombing of the American Headquarters in Lebanon. He was 19 at the time and the pictures of your family brought all the tears and heart ache back as if it happened yesterday. Please know that there are others out here that have walked down the same path you are going down and that we are praying for you as the days turn into years of missing Adre. May God place his hand on your heart and lighten your pain. Your son will always be a hero in our heart. Bless you and your family

To the family of Cpl. Williams,

My brother (Dominic Dejohn) is a LCpl. in the 3/25 with Andre. I spoke with him very shortly after they lost Andre. He was very distraught... He had been with Andre in his last minutes and had helped him to safety. He was only sorry that he couldn't save Andre. Cpl. Williams is truly missed by his fellow marines. I send the most heartfelt condolences to your family. You are in my prayers.

I really dont know what to say so I am going to speak from the heart. I had a pleasure of knowing Dre through High School. I can honestly say that he IS one in a million. You're smile brought joy to a room and Im glad to have known you and have you as a friend. I still remember when you signed my Senior book and told me to have fun at college. The times that we shared I will remember and cherish, keep in my heart forever. To Dre's family, Remember this, he is in a better place, he doesnt have to suffer anymore, like we have to suffer on this earth, so his pain is gone. Love and Peace

I just wanted to let the Williams' family know how sorry I am for the loss of Andre. I did not know him, but was deeply saddened by his death. Because of people like him, we as Americans have the freedoms we do today. It's a great feeling to know that there are willing and able soldiers fighting for our country each and every day. I sat along Broad Street this morning during the funeral procession and I was in awe by those who were paying their respects one last time to one of our heros. I pray for the family during this difficult time that they would remember what a blessing Andre was to them and to others as well.

Mary, I am so saddened by the passing of your son Dre. You have talked of him often at Makoy Center and your beautiful grandaughter. How proud I am of him and that he was such an honorable Marine. His passing will be difficult for you and the rest of the family. I know that my daughter Mari Newell and all the staff at Makoy are thinking of you. May he rest in peace.
