Angie and I went to Westland High School together. In fact we went to school together from elementary school to high school. In the 8th grade of every year they put on a talent show for the 6th and 7th graders during the day, and another in the evening for the parents. Angie and I danced to 'Ice Ice Baby' by Vanilla Ice. We had an absolute blast! We we're a bit clumsy at first, but improved with each performance. In my opinion, the clumsiness made it all the more endearing. I was a bit shy and the thought of performing on that stage in front of all of those people scared me to death! But, she wasn't taking 'No' for an answer...and I'm glad she didn't. She made me feel brave for doing it. Not just once, but FOUR DIFFERENT PERFORMANCES! She was even very kind when I missed a step in the first performance. I was so scared I was literally shaking, and I probably wouldn't have gone back out there if it wasn't for her encouragement. By the last performance, we didnt miss a step. We were also on the 8th grade basketball cheerleading squad together. She was good at making you laugh and lifting your spirits when you were feeling low. She was funny and kind, and attracted friends like magnets. We kept in touch through email, Facebook, and the occasional phone call, but eventually lost track of each other about five years ago. I'll always regret that, but I'll always feel grateful to have known her. I'll also always remember and love that magnetic, kind, fun, vivacious, energetic, funny, loving, beautiful, spirited, loyal person she was. The world lost one of the brightest of lights with her passing. And although we hadn't seen each other in about five years, I'll NEVER forget the girl who pushed me out on stage, and as corny as it may sound, made me better for it. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and closest friends (of which she had many). She will always be missed, loved, and remembered with great fondness. Goodbye, Angie and God bless you and your family.
