Anna Belle Staiger

STAIGER Anna Belle Staiger of Worthington passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 96. Despite physical ailments, she was a vital personality until her final days, living on her own until entering the Laurels of Worthington in September, where she quickly made friends and remained active. Anna Belle was born in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from Toledo University. She loved nature, literature and traveling in Europe and after studying in England she earned a Masters Degree in English at the age of 53. She was a lifelong writer of short stories, poetry and even a newspaper column. She was also a dedicated member of Linworth Methodist Church, at one point developing and coaching a program of bringing Bible stories to life through dramatic readings. She never lost her love of learning, and she thrived on meeting and interacting with other people. Her enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to her family and her many loyal friends. Anna Belle was predeceased in 1981 by her husband Prof. Norman Staiger, and is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Schatzki of Bernardsville, N.J. and Deborah Newberry of Kent, Ohio; two granddaughters, Margaret Sears and Andrea Newberry; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Sears. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Linworth United Methodist Church, 7070 Bent Tree Blvd., Columbus. Visitation from 1:00 PM until service time.
