Ben Melvin

MELVIN Ben Melvin, age 88, formerly of Youngstown, OH passed away December 27, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances. He is survived by his daughters, Irene (Ron) Kohr and Judy Melvin Pariser; grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron and Jacob Pariser and Sam Kohr; sister, Carola Blumer of Tel Aviv, Israel; longtime partner, Phyllis Berkowitz and brother-in-law, Richard (Babette) Roland of Delray Beach, FL. Ben Melvin was a Holocaust Survivor who was sponsored by his uncle Emmanuel (Celia) Rubenstein on February 20, 1950 and just celebrated 60 years of emigration last February. In Youngstown, Ben owned Ben's Exclusive Tailors, Ben's School of Fashion and Ben's Fabrics located on Phelps Street. He was an avid golfer, gardener and skier and especially loved hiking on his land in Tionesta, PA. Memorial Service 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Misha Zinkow officiating. Shiva will be observed at Irene and Ron Kohr's residence on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Mazon, or JNF (Trees in Israel.)
