Charles Davis Obituary

DAVIS Charles C. "Carroll" Davis, age 77, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He is known for his love of family, genealogy (Ancestory.com) and the United States Marine Corps. 1950 Graduate of Union Rural Local High School. Milford Center, OH. Carroll is a proud Veteran Korean War and retired from IRD Mechanalysis after 35 years. Carroll married Dorothy Jean Petty on August 31, 1952 and was married 52 years before her death in 2005. Carroll was extremely proud of his large family being the 15th of 18 children. He was a life time member of the Gahanna VFW Post #4719 and an active member of the Marine Corps League, Belleau Wood Detachment 508, Columbus Ohio. He is preceded in death by his infant son Thomas Nathan, his parents James "Jim" and Dessie (Kramer) Davis, siblings Dwight "Herb", Edwin "Laverne", Janet "Josephine" (Evans), James "Skinny", Floyd, Lloyd, Betty (Wykoff), Lawrence Foster "Fuzzy", Frank, Robert "Bob", Alberta (Kuhn), and his twin Harold. He is survived by his children, Carole (Feyyaz) Sismanturk of Bexley, Charles "Chuck" (Margaret) Davis of Australia and Laurie (Mark) Moziejko of Newark; grandchildren, Stella "Amy" Davis, Melinda Davis, Celik "Jon" Sismanturk and Charles "Chuckie" Sismanturk; siblings, Mary Gebhart of Arizona, Flora DiMattio of Cleveland, Kramer Davis of London, Cecelia "Sis" Pack of Urbana and Peggy Wood of Milford Center; and many other relatives and dear friends. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2008 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Road (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna, where the family will receive friends from 12Noon Monday until service. Pastor Tillie Cattrell, officiating. Interment with Military honors in Asbury Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Dodd Hall of the OSU Medical Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus OH 43210 in his memory.
