I knew your mother for many years as a co-worker and good friend of my mothers'. On a few occasions I was included in shopping excursions, lunches or just sitting in your parent’s back yard enjoying the afternoon and some iced tea, and I observed what a tried and true friendship they had.

Our mothers must have talked frequently about my love of animals; because your mother remembered my fondness for feeding squirrels and called me to come and collect some of the burr oak acorns that besieged her back yard each fall. I am sure that in the years to come there will be a stand of burr oak in Grove City thanks to her. She also sent me the print of the rabbit that hung in the kitchen just above the breakfast bar, because on one visit I remarked on how strikingly similar it was to the rabbit that we had just added to our menagerie at home, it now graces our family room

It is with pride that I explain to people that it was a dear friend of my mother’s who painted the tiles that are the centerpiece of my parent’s kitchen. The tiles were obviously painstakingly painted and fired many times to match the colors in mom’s kitchen; it is a basket of flowers that never fade.

I share these memories with you, not to extend your grief, but to let you see that part of your mother that touched others, not as a mother, but as a friend, and a truly giving soul.

Tracey and Kathryn,

I worked with your Mother at Ameritech in the 80's and remember with fondness her natural ability to flash a smile on her face when she saw you and her friendly disposition.

She adored both of you and spoke of your achievements often. And, Oh! How proud she was upon the arrival of her first grandchild!

She was truly a special person and I feel priviliged to have known her.

My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Toni Cardi
