Doris Hurd Obituary

HURD Doris Jean Hurd, age 66, of Gahanna, OH. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Four years after successfully beating cancer, God called his faithful servant Doris home, Friday, April 22, 2005. Never was there a more devoted wife, mother, grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents Bert and Elizabeth Montgomery and sister Lily Mae Montgomery. Survived by her husband of 40 years, George Hurd; three children, Julie (Kuruen) Mainous, Francis Hurd and Rose Hurd; eight grandchildren; sisters, Betty Begley and Bernice Travillian. She proudly served her government, retiring after 20 years of service from DSCC. A founding member of Liberty Baptist Church for the Deaf, Doris was a tireless worker and member of the Choir and Drama team. Her true passion was leading the deaf to Christ. Her hobbies include traveling with her husband, collecting Swarovski crystals and spoiling her grandkids and cat. She will be dearly missed by all. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the High Street Baptist Church, 7399 North High Street, Worthington, Monday at 1 p.m. Rev. David Mason officiating. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Building Fund for Liberty Baptist Church for the Deaf, 1552 Elmore Ave. Columbus, OH 43224 in memory of Doris.

Mrs. Doris Hurd is faithful servant to Jesus Christ. The LBCD lost the faithful members but Lord is blessing the Church double.

I had seen her work for Lord awhile I live in Ohio. She will be missing to millions of deaf and hearing people of Columbus, Ohio and The America.

Doris, I will meet you in Heaven the soon when lord calling many faithful worship to Home AMEN!!!!

We will miss Doris and She loved going to Deaf Ladies Retreat also got involved into the drama and choir. She was so faithful and showed the light through her heart for the Lord. =) There will be no another Doris like her. Mr. Hurd, We are very sorry for your loss of your wife . Doris was great wife to you over the years. We enjoyed the company with you and Doris at the Marriage Retreat..
