Earl Leo Dickerson, Jr., 3/16/1928 – 2/24/2021. Earl Leo Dickerson, Jr., 93, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021. Earl was born on March 16, 1928 to Francis and Earl Leo Dickerson, Sr. in Bramwell, West Virginia. After graduating from Bluestone High School in 1946, he was drafted into the Armed Forces and served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He then transferred to the Army Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1957. Earl was married to his life-long partner, Rosemarie Brewster Dickerson for 67 years. Their relationship began when they were young children, and he was known as "Sonny Boy" and she as "Sister". Their marriage produced three children, David Lee, Philip Brewster, and Liza. Earl worked for the Defense Construction Supply Center, for 32 years. After retiring, Earl spent much of his time doing the things he loved like volunteering with Meals on Wheels America and serving in the Via De Cristo and Kairos Prison ministries. He also spent much of his leisure time with good friends bowling in several local bowling leagues. Earl is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; son, Philip Brewster Dickerson; daughter, Liza Dickerson-Smitherman (Albert); 5 grandchildren, Joshua M.C. Smitherman, Justin E.C. Smitherman, Jeremy A.C. Smitherman, Jade Elizabeth Smitherman, and Jordan Scott Dickerson; one great-grandchild, Justin E.C. Smitherman, Jr.; sister, Jacqueline Stiger; extended family members, Barbara Smitherman and the entire Smitherman family, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
