Edward Allen Byers

Byers Edward Allen Byers, 65, of Richland, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, in Osage Beach, Missouri. Ed was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 24, 1950 to John and Ruth (Garrett) Byers. He was united in marriage to Charlene J. (Troyer) Byers on November 21, 1968. Together they shared 46 years of marriage. Ed is survived by his wife, Charlene of Richland, Missouri; daughter, Christina and husband, Paul Zacher of Lebanon, Missouri; daughter, Angela and husband, Scott Beran of Elgin, Oklahoma; and son, Thomas of Richland, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer and Paul Zacher Jr. of Lebanon, Missouri and Adam and Austin Beran of Elgin, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Allison Zacher of Lebanon, Missouri; father, John Byers of Hilliard, Ohio; sister, Patti and husband, Gary Creager of Hilliard, Ohio; brother, David and wife, Cheryl of Columbus, Ohio; brother, John of Dublin, Ohio; and sister, Kelly of Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Mae Byers of Hilliard, Ohio and Frank and Lena Garrett of Columbus, Ohio, his mother Ruth Byers, his brother Mark Myers and his beloved dog Bear. Ed graduated from Hilliard High School in 1968. He completed an apprenticeship as a journeyman lineman for IBEW Local 71 in Columbus, Ohio in 1973 and was a member for 40 years. Ed traveled to numerous locations including Saudi Arabia and California over his career. He worked many hurricane and ice storm outages with his last one being Katrina. He also volunteered for the Prairie Township fire department for approximately 8 years. Ed loved to travel, going to the Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the U.S. His family was very important to him and he always had time to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Nikko and numerous cats, but his greatest joy was seeing his children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. He will be greatly missed. Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich, Hilliard, Ohio.
