Held, Edward J.
Edward Joseph Held, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, with his family by his side. Eddie was 98 and finished his earthly journey at the home of his daughter, Mary Stephensen, and son-in-law, Dr. Sig Stephensen. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Grace, daughter Catherine Rose, parents Edward and Catherine, and siblings Marty and Bernie. Eddie is survived by his children, Thomas (Mary Pat) Held, Joseph (Colleen) Held, Christopher (Sharon) Held, Mary (Sig) Stephensen, John (Colleen) Held, Dorothy (Russ) Myers, Robert (Pam) Held; 22 grandchildren; "Grandpa the Great' to 26 great grandchildren and 1 "in waiting"; siblings, Mary Burkey and Paul (Mary) Held; brother-in-law, Edward (Priscilla) Day. Eddie is also survived by many loving family members and friends. Eddie proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II and received many honorable decorations and citations. He retired from the DCSC, but remained active in many capacities including: a Red Coat at The Ohio State University, a proud team member at Maeder-Quint-Tiberi Funeral Home, a long-time member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, an avid gardener and sharing his beautiful singing voice with all. A special thank you to Fr. Nguyen for his commitment to the entire Held family. His family will receive friends Sunday 1-5PM, with Rosary 4:30PM, at MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St. Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Monday at Corpus Christi, 1111 E. Stewart Ave. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Guests are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Church. To view and sign the on-line register, visit www.

EDDIE AND I WORKED TOGETHER MANY YEARS AT DCSC, WE ALSO HUNTED AND FISHED TOGETHER AND SHARED MANY BREAKFASTS AND LUNCHES WITH CO-WORKERS. HE WAS A FINE MAN AND I WILL MISS HIM. MY SYMPATHIES ARE WITH YOU AT THIS SAD TIME. MY WIFE, JAN, AND I ARE CURRENTLY SNOW-BIRDING IN ENGLEWOOD, FLORIDA. WE WON'T BE BACK IN OHIO UNTIL MAY. DAVE AND JAN EVANS
