Eleanor Graneto Obituary

GRANETO Eleanor Margaret Graneto, 92. Memorial services will be at a later date of Eleanor Margaret Graneto, 92, of Poland, who died Sunday morning at her home in Poland, Ohio. Born in 1917 in Columbus, Ohio she was one of the six children of Emedio and Christina Casbarro Presutti, proprietors of Presutti's T.A.T. Restaurant. On Valentine's Day 1938 she married Frank P. Graneto of Youngstown and they remained together for 70 years until his death in 2008. She is survived by her only child, Phillip A. Graneto of Glassboro, New Jersey; and three grandchildren, Christopher F. of Brooklyn, N.Y., Giancarlo P. of Lihue, Hawaii, Nora B. of Pottstown, PA.; and one sister, Frances (Presutti) Massenelli of Colubus, Ohio. Eleanor devoted much of her life to making family occasions as special as possible. Family and friends consistently praised her restaurant style cooking and prize winning pies and pastries. Her red hair, Quick wit and sharp tongue made her an unforgettable presence at every family gathering. While living in Alexandria, Virginia she studied painting with noted American artists Sam Gilliam and Jenny Lee Knight. She continued to paint when her husband returned to Youngstown to manage the Lustig Shoe Stores and she won several prizes in local amateur art competitions. Eleanor's favorite project in life was creating "Happy Times" for her grandchildren and nieces and nephews and when not available, for any other children who happened her way. She had a gift for making dearest friends out of perfect strangers. Material tributes can be made in Eleanor's memory to the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44502. Arrangements are by the FOX FUNERAL HOME, Boardman. Family and friends may view this obituary and send condolences at www.foxfuneralhome.org.
