I dont know what made me think about Eric, i went to grade school with him for years in Bourbonnais in the 1980s. I have moved from that town but over thanksgiving i was driving through briarcliff (the subdivision that we lived in), and saw his old house and thought about the sleepovers we had there. He always had a great smile, was so positive, and was a great friend. We lost touch after grade school, but i wont ever forget him.

Eric would have loved the recent restoration that alumni funded to the Delta Tau Delta, Beta Nu chapter at MIT! Eric was a great Delt at MIT and I miss him.
I was pleased to make a significant contribution in Eric's name. It made me very happy to ensure that Eric J. Hopkins' name is remembered and reflected on the large bronze plaque commemorating the house and the restoration! I sure miss you brother! My well wishes to your entire family.

Sandi,
My family and I extend our deepest sympathies. Though it has been many years since I have seen you and Eric, his memory and fine qualities are deeply remembered and valued. Even my mother remembers Eric vividly and recalled much information that he had shared with her about his family and upbringing. Eric was a remarkable person from every perspective. Patient, kind, generous, talented and humble (and willing to take thousands of questions from my mom proves it!). He was a great example for us all.
Though my wife and children have never met Eric, we have spent some time talking about him in these recent weeks and praying for you all around our dinner table. May God's strength, love and promise surround you and your family.
Several of us from Delta Tau Delta will be in OH to support you and to help celebrate Eric. Those that cannot be there are also mobilizing to gather up support and to share our memories for you and your children. We are collectively here for you- now and in the years ahead.
