Everett Harris Obituary

Harris Everett Louis Harris, age 88, of Westerville, OH, was born June 9, 1924 and passed away on March 17, 2013. Everett was born in Barnesville, OH and graduated from Brown High in Cambridge, OH. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 12, 1942 and proudly served his country during WW II in the Pacific Theatre and was at the battle of Leyte Gulf. He was honorably discharged January 19, 1946 receiving 5 gold battle stars during his time of service. Everett graduated in 1951 from Ohio University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Dorothy McConnell on March 30, 1952. He was employed by North America Aviation/Rockwell International for over 36 years from where he retired. Everett is survived by his wife, Dorothy Harris; son, Scott Harris; daughter, Cindy Harris McLean (Scott); son, Steve Harris (Rhonda); grandchildren, Megan Brooks (Tyler), Michael McLean (Rizelle), Collin Harris, Evan and Josh Engler; great-grandson, Kieran Brooks. Everett had four sisters Beulah, Lela, Goldie and Edith and two brothers Howard and Gilbert, all deceased. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 20 from 5-8 p.m. at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, where the service will be held Thursday, March 21st at 11 a.m. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local hospice or other charitable organization.
