Floyd Shirk Obituary

SHIRK Floyd H. Shirk, 88, Marysville, Wednesday, November 21, 2007, Memorial Hospital, Union Co. Retired associate of The Nestle Co. after more than 40 years. A lifelong Quaker, he was a longtime member of Shiloh Chapel Evangelical Friends Church. During WW II, he served the U.S. Army in Alaska on the Alaskan R.R. On returning to Oh., he became interested in the sport of beagling and spent more than 50 years in this sport. He was a more than 50-year member and past master of Palestine Lodge #158 F&AM. He was active in union circles and worked diligently on behalf of women for higher wages and benefits. He had much compassion for those less fortunate than himself and believed in the youth of today. Graduate of Raymond High School, he was born February 19, 1919, in Peoria to the late Don B. and Ada Simpson Shirk and was also predeceased by 1st wife Ruth Watts Shirk, 1958, 2nd wife Frieda Stewart Shirk, 2002, and 4 brothers Vernon, Carroll, Tom and Don. Survived by daughter, Donna R. Kinder, Mechanicsville, VA; sons, G. Houston (Linda) Shirk, Virginia Beach, VA, Dennis D. (Cindy) Shirk, Newark; grandsons, Douglas R. (Heather) Kinder, Mechanicsville, Darin R. (Heather) Kinder, Hoboken, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan, Sam Kinder; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
