Fred Douglas Hightower

HIGHTOWER Fred Douglas Hightower, age 70, was born November 24, 1938 in Hiram, GA. He passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Mary Ella Hightower, and the late Reverend C.C. Murphy, brother Willie "Buster" Hightower, sister Eddi Lene Hightower. Fred was raised and attended school in Detroit, MI. Prior to making Youngstown, OH his residence in 1962, Fred relocated to Chicago, IL where he became a pharmacist's apprentice and launched his lifelong career in sales. He later married Barbara Ann, and they raised four children providing them with many amazing opportunities. Fred founded Hightower Insurance Agency, Inc. and became a licensed Insurance Agent in 1970. He joined Capitol American Life Insurance Company in 1972, and pioneered payroll deduction for supplemental insurance programs in school districts, government agencies, and business groups all across the State of Ohio. Fred is survived by Barbara A. Hightower; and his sons, William, Kevin D. (Margaret), and Keith J.D. Hightower, all of Columbus, OH; daughters, Yolanda (Dolan) Hightower Mitchell, and Lenice Hightower, both of Detroit, MI, and Jada N. (Larry) Hightower Brooks, of Columbus, OH; stepson, Robert Devin Dozier, of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Tyrus, KeVauhn, Darius, Christian, Dolante, J.R., Julian, Taylor, Bishop, Chase, Blake, Jordan, Justin, and Cameron; sisters, Essie Young, of Powder Springs, GA, Lois Jones of Hiram, GA, Shirley McMillion, of Cottondale, FL, Barbara (Robert) Jackson, of Austell, GA; brothers, Dennis (Shirley) Hightower, of Dallas, GA, and Robert (Lucille) Taylor, of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends including cousin, James Eddie (Daisy) Murphy of Toledo, OH. Calling hours will be held in Youngstown, OH on Monday, December 8, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Edward J. Fox & Sons, Inc., 4700 Market Street, 44512. Funeral Services will be held in Columbus, OH at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 858 E. 3rd Ave., 43201, Bishop Jerome H. Ross, Officiating, and Elder Cassandra Reese, Eulogist. Family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until time of service.
