Freddie Pope

POPE Freddie Pope, 87, passed away peacefully Monday, July 24, 2006. Retired Amateur/Professional Boxer. National Golden Glove Award 1936; selected for the Olympic Team in 1938 and Featherweight Champion of 1942. Retired Professional Concessionaire. Lifetime member of Greater Ohio Showman's Association, and Founder of The International Independent Showman's Association, Tampa, Fla. Preceded in death by parents Nellie and Pamp, brother Paul and sister Reba DeLong. He is survived by a completely devoted wife of 67 years, Frances (Hoyle) Pope; daughter, Pamela Conklin of Fla.; sons, Jessie Pope (Carol) of Pickerington, Fred (Ruth Rinehart) Pope of Delaware; grandchildren, Annette DiSabato (Leo) of Canal Winchester, Joe Pope (Karie) of Reynoldsburg, Alicia Myers (Chris) of Pickerington, San (Francis) Pope of Tenn., Bobbie Pope of Fla., Kevin (Jamie) Pope of Marion; great-grandchildren, Josh and Jessie Horne, Zach Pope, Kayleigh and Jordan Pope, Shon Lee, Chevy McCarthy, Joe, Matt and Dominick Myers; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St. Graveside service will be held Friday 10 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery.
