I am so sorry and shocked to learn of your and the world's loss of such a great friend, scholar, businessman and educator. I worked closely with Gene in OSU Extension and always appreciated his close understanding of the "real world" in his teaching program. He will be greatly missed. Gene was a friend of mine and I really appreciated his friendship and assistance with my Extension work.
While a student and fraternity brother, Gene drove a Pontiac which did not have an ignition key, so,he tu0rned the ignition switch with a coin.
He was extremely likable. I'm saddened that he has passed away.

Gene was a special person-my thoughts and prayers are with the family. I was on the OSU Judging team with Gene in 1960. I always admired his grasp of "quality" in our judging contests. He and I ordered an "all you can eat" chicken dinner for $5.00 in Maryland and we ate 5 chickens between us. I am sorry for your loss--he will be greatly missed by the industry.
