Harold Dowdy Obituary

DOWDY Harold Dale Dowdy, Sr., age 84, born November 12, 1923, passed away November 16, 2007, at OSU Medical Center. A graduate of North High School, class of 1942 and a WWII Army veteran. Retired from North American Rockwell International after 35 years of service, and former employee of WBNS and the Columbus Board of Education. Preceded in death by parents Thomas and Mary Dowdy, step-mother Julia Dowdy, wife Laura Jackson Dowdy, daughter Dianne Dowdy Strickland, brothers Stanley (Martha), Owen (Mary), Herman (Rosalee), sister Evelyn Jenkins, and brothers-in-law Bill Jackson and William Ellis. Survived by sons, Harold Jr., Dennis (Connie), Douglas, Duane, and Derek; grandchildren, Michael Dowdy and CaSondra Strickland; sister, Helen (Quinton) Conley; son-in-law, Raymond Strickland Jr.; sisters-in-law, Josephine Ellis and Imore (Percy) Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Service of Memory 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007, in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery. "Sign the online guestbook at www.dispatch.com/obituaries"

I think he was my cousin. My grandmother was Rosie (Dowdy) Crabtree and from one cousin to many, my prayers are with you all. God bless you.

Dearest Dowdy Family, We have lost yet another Member, Uncle Harold was one of our Uncles who visit soo
much, I remember him doing a dance he called "The Train" boy would he get his feet and hands moving so fast til I thought they were going to fall off. He will be missed here but reunited on the other side.Stay in God's will and we will all meet again Whith much Love.
