Hilda Ucko Obituary

UCKO Hilda (Hildegarde) Ucko, nee Buxbaum, 88, Sarasota, FL, died August 25, 2010. She was born March 30, 1922, in Berlin, Germany and survived the duration of WWII as a slave laborer in various Nazi Concentration Camps. She was miraculously reunited with her husband at a Displaced Persons camp after the liberation and emigrated to the U.S. with their baby daughter in 1947. She and her family made their way to Columbus, OH in 1953 where they lived until July of 2002, when they moved to Sarasota. She was an active member of Temple Israel. She is the widow of her beloved husband of 65 years, Howard, who predeceased her in 2005. She is also survived by her loving daughter, Daisy; son-in-law, Gary, of Sarasota; her grand-daughter, Nicole; grandson, Ryan, their spouses John and Gina; and great-granddaughter, Sylvie Rose Steadman, all of Brooklyn, NY.

Dear Daisy, We recall with great joy the days, many years ago, when we lived next door to you and your parents. They were both very kind, thoughtful, and entertaining people. It was indeed an adventure. We are very sorry to read of your mother's passing. We are thinking of you and wishing you only the best.
