Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

Richard, Jean, and Megan Barrett

Dear Smith family:

We were deeply saddened to hear of

Holly's passing. We met Holly about 7 years ago when our daughter

was one of Holly's patients. Our daughter was in Children's Hospital for about 11 weeks the first time we met Holly. She helped us through a very difficult time and became a special part of our family. You will never know how many lives were touched by that beautiful smile of hers and her bubbly personality. We thank God for placing her in our lives during a dark time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We pray it may be some comfort to you to know that we were touched by knowing Holly, and that she made a difference in our lives. We will treasure our memories and the picture we have of Megan and Holly (we were touched to hear that the picture was displayed at the funeral).

God bless you,

my family and I were really shocked to hear about Holly's passing. She was a great nurse to my daughter, and always went out of her way to comfort her in everyway possible. My only wish now would be to give you back that comfort. she will be truely missed.

Dear Smith Family,

I just learned of Holly's death. I didn't even know who my mom was talking about at first because it didn't register that it could be Holly Smith that I knew as a child. I have always thought of your family as my family. Heidi, Holly and I were very close as kids and over the past years I have thought foundly of them both. I will remember all of the fun times we had as kids, running in fields, playing at family get togethers and attending youth group activities. I know that I will see her again and that she is dancing and singing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I know that you are saddened by this loss, but take comfort in knowing she is in no more pain and just look at all of the lives she has touched! What a wonderful gift to this world. She will be missed. God Bless you and may He give you strength and courage to get through this difficult time.

I am in shock about this news. I had the pleasure of knowing Holly for about the past 3 years through my work. She recognized my last name on my name badge and asked if I was related to Matt Streng, with whom she attended high school. Matt is my husband and she had nothing but good words to say about him. She also was very encouraging to me with my nursing school. She had nothing but positive words to say- always. I have a couple more quarters to go and I will strive to be the best nurse in her honor. She will be missed tremendously. Our deepest sympathy and prayers, Crissy & Matt

Holly was one of my best friends for 15 years. We had many crazy adventures together and many times when we just sat together quietly. I am so thankful that God gave her to me for 15 years and I would not trade it for the world. Please find comfort in knowing that she is dancing with all the children she helped who preceeded her in heaven. I will never forget my Holly-Berry. If I end up touching half the lives she did I will consider myself blessed.

Holly had a spirit that inspired so many people around her. Her smile lit up the world, and knowing her has been a tremendous blessing in my life and the lives of many. May God's blessings and love surround all of you in this time, and may you know that her spirit will live on in the lives that she touched!

So sorry to hear of Holly's passing. The thing I remember most about Holly is how funny she thought it was when she came into the office at Kirkersville Elementary and I didn't know if she was Holly or Heidi. The whole time they were there I never did figure which was which...just know they were both wonderful girls. Please know your family has my deepest sympathy.

Dear David, Linda and Heidi,

We did not get to spend a lot of

time with Holly, but we will never

forget the fun we had on New Years

Eve.

We are sorry for your loss. But, words can not begin to express our true feelings.

To Dave, Linda, and Family:

Holly has been an important figure in my life, and will remain so for many years to come. I learned Faith and Trust in the Lord through Holly, and I am sure I am not alone! The Faith and Trust I learned is the Faith and Trust beyond the simple things in life, it is Faith and Trust to understand that God's path for us may not always be sunny and rosey. Through the good days and the bad, Holly was faithful! I will always remember all the nights we stayed up talking in the hospital, the summers we hung out at the pool, and those quiet times when we were just there for eachother.

God Bless You All, and Holly I will see you again one day!

Love,

Sarah

I only knew Holly for about the last 6 months working with her through the Endocrinology Dept. (bone clinic) at Children's. It seems like I have always known her. Holly always was upbeat and had a smile and encouraging word for me and everyone else she came in contact with. I will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

For the Family of Holly Smith,

I had the pleasure of working with Holly during her care in Pulmonary Rehab at OSU. She had a special light and warmth that she brought to our world. She spoke of her family often with descriptions that included much joy and laughter. She was a beautiful person both on the inside and out and she will always remind me of a brightly lit shooting star: Brillant, Beautiful and One of a Kind. We greatly appreciate Holly for the time we were able to share with her. I am very sad to hear of her death and wish for you her family strength during your time of grief.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Hayter (Burgess)

Dear Dave, Linda, Heidi and family,

We are so incredibly heartbroken at the loss of Holly. I know that we will see her again, but it is a tremendous loss for us who remain behind. She was (along with her sister) the sweetest girl that I have ever met. Even in the midst of all that she went through, she was always smiling. I am cetain that she touched so many, many lives with all the people that she came in contact with over the years. I am sure that she'll be hearing the song "Thank you for giving to the Lord," as Jesus says, "My child, look around you...for great is your reward." She ran the race and has earned her crown. We love you all so dearly, and pray that the Lord will provide comfort that only He can give.

I was so saddened to hear of Holly's passing. I was one of Holly's professors at Capital University and I had come to know her very well. I also had many opportunities to work along side her at Children's Hospital and I alway found her with a smile and a kind word. She was an extraordinary nurse who had an amazing way of making children feel special. You must have felt extremely proud of her and her accomplishments.

I will miss her tremendously.

With my deepest sympathy,

Heather

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Heidi, Rob and Rex,

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. What an incredible and special person we have lost. I am so very blessed to have known her and to have been her friend. You are in my prayers.

I will be flying in tomorrow night. Also, I am working with my college here in Florida to set up a memorial scholarship in her memory for a nursing student that will proudly follow her foot steps into the healing ministry of nursing that she so loved.

She was a life saver to me at a pivotal moment in my life. To her patients she dispensed medications and care... to me she dispensed love and prophetic wisdom. What a great loss. Our comfort is knowing where she is and that we will all see her again.

Much love,

Jim Lear

Dear Smith family,

I was so saddened to hear of Holly's passing. We were in many nursing classes together and I have wonderful memories of our years at Capital. I work at Children's also and we were just talking about her the other day, after seeing her picture in our hospital newsletter. She had on her beautiful smile, just like I remember. She will be missed by so many of us.

Take care of each other.

April 15, 2006

Dear Dave, Linda, Heidi, & family,

Bill & I are so devastated - as all of you must be - at the loss of your precious Holly! She was the dearest & bravest girl. The picture I (Nell) will always carry with me is of her sitting on my piano bench having a lesson. She & Heidi were always so sweet & such a joy to have as students. Bill also had a special friendship with her - he spoke of his admiration for her many, many times over the years & has never forgotten her, even in his present condition.

We've been thinking how very special it is that our Lord called her Home for Easter! How wonderful to realize that she is now in her Savior's presence!

We pray that His loving comfort & supernatural grace will sustain you & the rest of your family through this time of deep sorrow. A dear pastor once made a remark that has stayed with us: "for the Christian there is no final good-bye"

We love you & will keep you in our prayers,

Bill & Nell Fischer
