Ima Jennings Obituary

Jennings Ima L. Jennings passed away from this vale of tears to eternal life with God, at age 85, on Saturday, October 24, 2015, just before noon. Also known as 'Grams'. She was born on Saturday, June 28, 1930, in Huntington, West Virginia to Frank and Grace (Newman) Osborn, and grew up along the C&O railroad tracks. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchild so much, they were always at the center of her thoughts. She was good to all her granddogs and grandcats past and present. She liked ducks, and flowers, and woodland creatures; picnics, fairs, and concerts; and ice cream and sweets. She made Easter cakes with coconut nests on top, and gumdrop cookies for Christmas. She enjoyed listening to the birds settling down for the night. She was friendly to everyone she met. She cooked delicious comfort foods, and kept up on current events, and was interested in American history. She traveled to Gettysburg, Arizona, Hawaii, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Virginia, and wished she could travel to Texas. She said about twelve years ago "I think we're going to find out some day that everything is connected." She looked forward to Heaven, and meeting everyone there, and believed in the promise that 'we'll understand it better by and by . . .' Preceded in death by parents, husband Paul E. Jennings, infant daughter Valerie Jennings, grandson Joshua Mayes, brother Haskell Osborn, sisters Eileen Slack, Pearl Midkiff, Lillian Dukeman. Survived by children, Leslie (Paul) Johns, Karen Jennings, Kristin (Ron) Overfield; grandchildren, Jessica (Tim Montgomery) Jennings, Mary Dodge, Nicolas Overfield, Angela Mayes, Christian Overfield, Cameron Overfield; great grandson, Brennan Montgomery; sister, Ruth Taylor; brother, Jim Osborn; many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being made by Tidd Family Funeral Home and will be announced at a later date.

Very sad to learn of Ima's passing. I have been wondering about her for many years. I worked for Nationwide Ins & met her through a mutual friend. I will never forget the costume she wore to a Halloween party. She was dressed in a Country Western outfit with question marks all over it. When people asked her about it, she said she was Tammy WhyNot. Ima was warm, kind, compassionate, caring & friendly. I wish I had stayed in touch with her after I moved away. I'm sure she is greatly missed by all of her friends & family. If I can find pictures of her, I will share them. I may still have some from when her holding her first grandchild & maybe even from the Halloween party. She looked so cute in her Country Western costume. I will look for her in Heaven because I'm sure she is there.

Dear friend, you are loved and missed. You were always a joy to be around and the two of us had so much fun. I will always remember the Tom Jones concert we went. You were a great friend and loving mother.

I have many fond memories of Ima and working with her at Nationwide. I'll always remember meeting Willie Nelson with her at the fairgrounds. She was head over heels for him. May the perpetual light shine upon you Ima.

My Dear friend, this is the way you will be remembered. Walking a log across a creek with friends cheering you on. You always had such a fun spirit with unwavering love and a smile that lit up the room.

I am so saddened to hear of Ima's passing. She was a dear friend and co-worker at Nationwide. She enjoyed life and found fun in everything she did. We made a trip to NC with two other friends to meet up with another friend and she was the life of the party. I will miss her...I love you Ima.
