Jeffrey A. Lewis "Coach", age 75, of Westerville, Ohio, Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Coach Lewis was born on March 13, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Jack P. and Elizabeth G. Lewis who preceded him in death as well as his sister Judith Dykstra. He is survived by his children, Kimberly A. Lewis of Westerville, Ohio and Scott E. (Tina) Lewis of Salt Lake City, Utah. Coach became an Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and participated in 3 sports at Maple Heights HS, graduating in 1961. He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1965 where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Coach Lewis then taught at Garfield Heights HS where he was named head wrestling coach at the age of 22 and his team won the prestigious Brecksville Holiday Tournament and 2 District Championships. In 1970 he became the first wrestling coach at Cuyahoga Community College Metro and guided them to an 8th place finish at the Junior College Nationals with one All-American. In 1971 he left teaching and became a full time insurance agent winning numerous awards and trips. In 1976 he founded the J.A. Lewis Insurance Agency in Westerville, Ohio and remained the principal until his retirement in October of 2017. He got back to being a wrestling coach in the late 1970's at Westerville North HS. His teams won 4 OCC Championships, voted #1 in the Dispatch poll in 1988 and 2 District Championships. In 1988 he was voted the Division 1 Central District Coach of the Year by his peers. Coach also had a philanthropic view on life as he created and endowed scholarships at his alma-mater Baldwin-Wallace University. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 4 from 4-7 p.m. at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, where a service will be held Wednesday, December 5 at 11 a.m. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsville, Ohio. The family would like to thank all of his friends who are friends of Dr. Bob and Bill W. who held meetings at his home and came to visit him and provide their love and support in his time of need. In lieu of flowers, Coach asks that you consider a donation to the House of Hope at 825 Dennison Ave, Columbus, OH 43215 or the wonderful Ohio Health Hospice at 800 McConnel Dr., Columbus, OH 43214.

Jeff Lewis was my coach at CCC 1969-1970 season. He helped me get to the Junior College Nationals. He was larger than life and was a great coach.
