Reverend Jerry Matthew Carter, Sr., age 80, made his transition to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Carter was the Pastor of Mt. Period Baptist Church and a member of Refuge Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by parents Rev. James and Aurie Carter, Sr., six siblings and daughter Debra Hannah. He is survived by loving family, devoted wife, Mrs. Jacqueline Carter; children, Cheryl Cowans, Reverend Jerry M. Carter, Jr., Reverend Christopher Carter, Kyra (Bernard) Pruitt-White, and Nicole (Robert) Carter-Jackson; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held 7 PM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Mt. Period Baptist Church 462 Kimball Pl. Cols, OH. Visitation will begin at 6 PM. Home-going Celebration will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 14, 2018 at Refuge Baptist Church, 400 N. 20th Street, Cols., OH. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of service. My condolences go to the family and friends of Reverend Jerry M. Carter. God directed Pastor Carter to baptize me in the 1970's. My path was directed in other ways during my life but Reverend Carter was fundamental in my life. Pastor Carter will be remembered spiritually and lovingly by his family. May the God of Peace comfort and strengthen his family.
