From Elmore Ave to Sycamore Road, I shall always remember our fun gatherings and wonderful food "spreads". Joe was a great guy and I'm still shocked to learn the news. I could not attend the service, but my thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember our "attempted" softball game at the Mt Vernon house, the "rue" blends Joe created for our dinners, the conversations of Jimmy Hendrix and others, and other fun times. He was THE BEST neighbor I could have ever had at Elmore and felt he always looked out for me. I'll treasure our friendship, always.

I know Joe as one the biggest Michican fans i have ever knew...the painted blue face with the capital M! We worked together at the Post Office for years. It was an honor and a privilege to have known him.

As I sit here and think of all the memories of years past, as a little girl going to visit my Uncle Joe and Aunt Judy during the summers, I remember all of the fun that I had. From swimming in the pond, to fishing, the horses, the time that me and my brother rode four wheelers, well actually one of us rode a four wheeler and the other on the riding lawnmower, lol, racing up and down the hill on the side of their house, or going to the neighbors house for a fourth of July celebration, or the times that we piled up in the Chevette and drove to a little pizza joint….. I only have the fondest memories of Uncle Joe, and am deeply saddened by his loss. I have sent many of cards out with pictures of his Grand-nephew's and now Grand-niece to him, and was so excited for him, when this past Christmas, he included a picture of his recent addition to the family, a Harley!! ;0) I still get a little smile on my face, when I think of him being a proud father to his new “baby”. I will treasure the memories always, and a piece of him will live in me, always!

Karen and Janet

Having known Cy for more than 40 years.
He was my older brother Charlie's friend.
I remember we went fishing at Alum Creek by Refugee Rd. It was in the night and we had to cross the railroad tressel. Joe was the first person who gave me the nickname of Leadbottom. We had a great time while working for Donato's. It was so nice to see him at the reunion back in July. I am sure Joe, Tony and Charlie are talking about all of us right now.
May he rest in peace.

God Bless the Southend

Janet and Karen,

The loss of your brother is so hard in life I so understand. Joe whom I have always called my friend I might just say all my life, he will be missed. There isn't a day that goes by I don't think of our trip to CA in 69! Our days at Donato's will live with me and others forever as will Joe! God Bless and may Joe rest with the Harleys.

Janet and Karen, I am happy Joe is at peace but so sad that he is gone. You both are as great as any sisters could be and you were always in on the fun too, at family gatherings or at 1297! Being the same age and my cousin he was my first and longest best friend. I have been thinking about all the great fun Joe, I and others had...hoppin' cars, trashpickin', building and riding mini-bikes, hunting at E Gates park (Crosman b-b guns of course!) , riding car hoods and refrigerator doors down the RR embankments and pennies on the RR track and riding pigs!! When you were with Joe somehow fun happened and when I tell people about this stuff they look at me like I'm crazy. We had many great times at your house and family gatherings right up to last party.
Please let me know if I can help with anything, now or in the future.

Such a loss. Joe easily made friends wherever he went,be it school, at Donatos, in the Army, at the Post Office, in Mount Vernon,OH...wherever.Most of his friends remained his friends for life. He just as easily had you doing something crazy that you never would have done in your life.I know that I did..more than once. Joe was a natural born leader. I was privileged to have known Joe for most of my life. Growing up I watched as Joe customized bicycles, mini bikes, motorcycles and onetime.. shopping carts. Along with other good friends of Joe's we went fishing (a lot), hunting, camping, out listening to bands (Joe loved listening to a great guitar player), and generally horsed around.Things that I would not have done if not for Joe.In fact, the majority of my other friends, and fondest memories from growing up, are a gift from Joe. A nurse said to me just a few days ago, as she watched his friends come and go,"he must have been a great guy". He was.

I am very sad to have to say goodbye to Cy. Joe was always the leader of the pack. A bunch of us had motorcycles and went fishing because of him and he was responsible for a lot of the fun we had working at Donatos. He was as real as a man can be. He always lived life his way and never pretended to be any different than he was. My life was much richer for having known him and he leaves me and a lot of others with many great memories. I hope Joe and Tony are having some laughs at the new 'model garage'.
