Dear Jim: I was shocked last night when you told me of your Dad's passing. I last talked to him in the National City bank in Grandview in December before leaving on an extended vacation in Florida. (That's why I missed the news). He told me that he was still dancing and had moved out of his old apartment (family insisted). He said that he loved his new digs-- all on one floor level. He looked terrific and ever the gentleman that he was...As you know, he taught me the ropes and I think rather enjoyed it! I'll always remember that he said fairness demanded that we look out for the property owner as much as for the state. I'm glad I had the chance to work with him. Bud

I hardly knew Joe but had the pleasure of seeing him a few times at St. Christopher’s and one fish fry at Our Lady of Victory . I will never forget the first time I met Joe. It was Christmas Eve 2008. My daughter was in from NYC. We went with Melba Miller and even though we were early, we weren’t early enough to easily get a seat for the 4:30 Christmas Eve mass. Melba introduced us and Joe found us a seat with his family. I will never forget it. I remember this moment fondly, my daughter feeling so welcome sitting next to his granddaughter and talking briefly before mass started.

Joe was a true Gentleman. I only wish I had got to know him better. I'm so sorry for your loss.
