To family and friends:
Please know that LCpl Joshua Mcdaniels was honored today (as he is every year) at the annual "I Did the Grid 4 mile run" on Long Island, NY. The names of 4 fallen heroes are printed on each runners bib. At the finish line each runner rings a bell 4 times to honor each of the soldiers on their bib. I wanted you to know that I had the privilege of ringing the bell for LCpl Joshua Mcdaniels today.
My deepest sympathy for your loss.
He will never be forgotten!

To the Family of LCpl. Joshua McDaniels

I wish I had the right words to say at this time, but I know there are none. I grieve for the loss of your beloved son and I know that I cannot fathom the pain you must be feeling. Your son will not be forgotten and what he did to help protect our homeland and our freedoms. It was his life that made him a Hero. It was his noble path that made him an American Hero. It was his ultimate sacrifice that made him a Fallen Hero. May God carry him to Heaven on His precious wings and give him a palace to live in. I pray that our Heavenly Father above will grace you with His love, His comfort and His peace. Heaven's Gates now has a new handsome Marine standing guard. Amen.

How can we thank you for the sacrifice you’ve made?
How do we honor you for the price that you’ve paid?
How do we show you how much we are blessed?
Knowing you’re out there protecting the nest
Like the eagle that soars in the skies up above
Keeping your watch over all that we love
Protecting our Freedom and the Red, White and Blue
Ensuring Old Glory always flies true
With honor and conviction, you fight for us all
We give you our thanks for heeding the call
It seems not enough for all that you do
But you matter to us as we matter to you
A Guardian of Freedom in a land far away
We owe you so much, we could never repay
We can’t even imagine the burdens you carry
When you’re tired and alone and your mind is weary
Whether it’s hot or cold, in the snow or the sand
May God hold you and keep you in the palm of his hand
You’re our Hero of heroes, a beacon of light
Our shadow of hope that shines through the night...
God Bless you Josh

Dear McDaniels Family,

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As taps began to play.

The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.

They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here 'neath the sand.

I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.

Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,

Thanks for what you've given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore.

HOW DO WE HONOR YOU FOR THE PRICE THAT YOU PAID?
HOW DO WE SHOW YOU HOW MUCH WE ARE BLESSED?
KNOWING YOU’RE OUT THERE PROTECTING THE NEST.
LIKE THE EAGLE THAT SOARS IN THE SKIES UP ABOVE
KEEPING YOUR WATCH OVER ALL THAT WE LOVE
PROTECTING OUR FREEDOM, THE RED WHITE AND BLUE
ENSURING OLD GLORY ALWAYS FLIES TRUE

WE GIVE YOU OUR THANKS FOR HEEDING THE CALL
IT SEEMS NOT ENOUGH FOR ALL THAT YOU DO

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to L/Cpl . Joshua B. McDaniels our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Joshua. And to Joshua it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Joshua, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Joshua’s family and loved ones. Semper Fi !

The day of your birth, you entered a world that was vast and wide and full of hope and wonder.
As you grew, you discovered that the world was much more than you could have ever imagined.
As you enetered adulthood, you discovered your calling, THE CALL OF DUTY.
As the years past, you served your country willingly, with Dedication and HONOR.
On the day of your passing, GOD spoke and called you home. His mission for you is greater than your mission on Earth.
On this day, you became an angel to watch over, guide, and protect your fellow soldiers.
May GOD hold you in his loving arms with a guiding hand upon your shoulder.
On this day, we HONOR you.
