Marcella Cahill Obituary

CAHILL Marcella L. Cahill, age 85, of Columbus, went to meet the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Kobacker House. Born in Delaware to the late Ruth and Charles "Nick" Hopper she was a graduate of Powell High School, Class of 1941. In addition to her parents, Marcella is preceded in death by her brother Robert Hopper, sister Deloris Geisler, brother-in-law Donald Geisler and nephew Nick Hopper. Marcella is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Cliff Cahill; children, Cliff "Bud" Cahill of Columbus, David (Mary) Cahill of Knoxville, TN, Mary (Gary) Campbell of Butler, Ohio, Marti (Bill) Lindemann of Hudson, Ohio and Patricia (Mel) Jones of Galloway; grandchildren, Theresa (Mike) Hinterscheid of Grove City, Christina (John) Suess of London, Ohio, John (Amy) Cahill of Pittsburgh, PA, Christopher (Gina) Cahill of Knoxville, Timothy (Lori) Cahill of Ft. Worth, TX, Benjamin Cahill of Knoxville, Michelle (Andy) Batt of Columbus, Patrick (Julie) Campbell of Medina, Ohio, Robert (Jen) Campbell of Columbus, Kurtis (Presley) Lindemann of Delaware, Cherie Lindemann of Hudson, Phillip Jones of Sapalpa, OK, Misty (Mike) Myer of Pickerington and James Jones of Galloway; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, James (Mary) Hopper of Sunbury, Ohio, Charles E. (Opal) Hopper of Malta, Ohio, Peggy (James) Culbertson of Skiatook, OK, Billy (Sharon) Hopper of Powell, Jerry (Jadean) Hopper of Columbus and Charlene (Walter) Baggs of Lewis Center; sisters-in-law, Doris Hopper of Powell and Mary Cahill of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marcella was a long-time member of Columbia Heights United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School coordinator, wedding coordinator and member of the Mary Circle. She was also a member of the Riverside Methodist Hospital Sewing Guild for over 23 years. She and her husband Cliff were active in the Rhythm Reelers Square Dance Club. Marcella's passion was sewing and crossword puzzles. She dedicated much of her spare time to making cherished gifts for her family. Her hands were never idle. Her love and care-giving and devotion to her husband, family and friends was a precious gift to all of us. She will be greatly missed by all of us yet we know she is happy in the hands of God. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. THURSDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio 43065, (614)-792-1471. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 1/4 mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) Private graveside service will be held for the family at Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware, Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. FRIDAY, April 9, 2010 at COLUMBIA HEIGHTS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 775 South Galloway Road, Galloway, Ohio 43119, (614)-878-4530 with Reverend Ed Lewis, officiating.
