Maria Coccia Obituary

COCCIA (DiMARCO) Maria Coccia, age 83, of Columbus, OH, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born November 23, 1922 in Acquasanta Terme, Italy to Livia and Luigi Bolla. Preceded in death by parents, husband Felice DiMarco, son Giuliano (Joe) DiMarco and siblings Orlando, Antonio, Vincenzo, and Giovanna. Survived by daughter, Felicia DiMarco Maxwell Cotsamire (Dennis Cotsamire); son, Peter Coccia (Nena Couch); and daughter, Maria Regina Coccia; grandchildren, Anthony DiMarco, Frank (Vicki) DiMarco, Lisa (Michael) McCarthy, Dominic (Lisa) Maxwell, Mark (Carla) Maxwell, Sarah (Scott) McLean, and Alexander Coccia; step-grandchildren, Justin and Devon Cotsamire; son-in-law, Thomas Maxwell; daughter-in-law, Rita DiMarco; sister-in-law, Carmina Paliotti; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and in-laws in Rome, Acquasanta Terme, and Ascoli Piceno, Italy, and Montreal, Canada. Maria came to the United States in 1948 upon her marriage to Emilio Coccia. She cooked for the Florentine Restaurant for 47 years. At her death she had been a resident of Seton Square North for 10 years. Maria was a long-time member of St. Mary Magdalene and St. Andrew Catholic parishes. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd., Columbus. Inurnment, immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH. Friends may call at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 No. High St., Worthington, OH on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Mid-Ohio FoodBank, 1625 W. Mound St., Columbus, OH 43223, www.midohiofoodbank.org. in Maria's memory.

My mother worked with Maria many years ago at the florentine. She was always feeding me and giving me kisses and hugs. My own mother Mildred Satkowski passed away a month ago. I know the pain your feeling...know that they are both in the hands of God now.
