Martin Gibbs Obituary
Martin N. Gibbs, age 92, of Gahanna, Ohio died July 30, 2017 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. On July 20, 1925 he was born in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Eleanor Geneva Martin and Thomas M. Gibbs. On April 8, 1988 he married Phyllis D. Carr at St. Phillips Lutheran Church. Together they shared 29 years. Martin is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gibbs; and a loving and devoted daughter, Jennifer Gibbs of Oakland, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and Ida Mildred Beach Martin and Howard Blaine Martin, his grandparents who raised him from the age of two following his mother's accidental death. Martin was employed by Hills Blueprint Company in German Village for over forty years and retired from the City of Columbus, Division of Water after more than ten years. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held following his cremation on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 4 p.m. with a time of gathering being held immediately prior from 3-4 p.m. all at the chapel of Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society, 5464 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Martin N. Gibbs to the Mount Carmel Foundation at 6150 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43213 or at www.mountcarmelfoundation.org.

We always appreciated and enjoyed the interaction Martin had with our family. Our daughter would always chose a seat next to him. They would amuse and entertain each other by asking and answering each others questions, laughing after each one. He will forever be "Grampa Marty" to us. So very sorry for your pain and loss. We will be praying for you.

My thoughts and Prayers go out to Jennifer and the rest of the Gibbs family. Losing a family member such as a loved father as I know Martin was is very hard, but God will guide you and give you strength.Blessings always.
