Merle B. Fleming

FLEMING Merle B. Fleming, 76, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Riverside Hospital after a brief illness. He was born October 4, 1932 to the late Boyd and Wilda (Graden) Fleming. Merle is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Ellen (Webster), whom he married on March 21, 1958. Also surviving are son, Jeff Fleming of Columbus; daughter, Laura (James) McLynas; four grandchildren of Clearwater, Fla.; sisters, Mary Lou Wolfrey of Orlando, Fla. and Eleanor Park of Mt. Dora, Fla. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the military; Merle attended Penn State University (Behrend Center) in Erie, Pa. He was a retired manager and installer of Industrial Equipment. He loved to travel and was an avid woodworker. In his later years, Merle enjoyed swimming at the Westerville Community Center, gardening (especially his tomato plants) and fellowship with family and friends at the Maize Road Baptist Church, where he attended. Family will receive friends Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile South of I 270), where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2009. Pastor Brett Castle officiating. Private family interment at a later date in Russell, Pa.
