Mike's Irish wit, hearty laugh and genuine concern for others were his trademarks and will be truly missed.

I had Mr. Flaherty at St. Matthias and at DeSales.
What a wonderful, kind man he was. I will always remember his laugh. In 7th grade he required us to memorize the US Presidents in order. I can still do it! My heartfelt condolences to the family. I know he is resting in peace.

Mr. Flaherty was a wonderful teacher I have remembered all my life. He had me as a student at St. Matthias in 1962-64. Mr. Flaherty was an excellent history teacher and instilled in me a lifelong love of the subject. Last spring, he made the connection from his friend and neighbor that she knew me. He called me. What a surprise and an honor he remembered me! I organized a lunch with several people and we all got reacquainted with Mike! We had hoped to do it again soon. So very sorry for your tremendous loss. Your husband and father was a very memorable person who touched many, many lives! He will be missed!
