My family lived a house over on Alloway in the mid 70's. My brother John and I spent many happy hours playing with the Riebel brothers and have great memories of that time. I remember playing "Pong" with him on the black and white TV in the kitchen. I was so sad to hear about his passing.

You were your daddy's proudest accomplishment. I don't know why he had to go to heaven early, but I know if he could choose he would have stayed here with you your whole life. I am very saddened to have heard of Mike’s passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Mike in high school and while he attended OSU. I remember him as a caring and very funny person and I enjoyed his company very much. He did have an incredibly room-filling smile. I lost contact with him in the years since, but I’ll cherish my endearing memories of him, as I always have. People aren't temporary in our lives; they're not random figures in the past. Their impact is eternal because people are eternal.
My prayers and thoughts are with the Riebel family and especially his daughter.

When I think about Mike I am reminded most of his Kind Hearted, Easy Smile...

Thanks for keeping us all in stitches, Mike, you were a gift to all who knew you. As I spend many days at Evening Street as a teacher, dad and volunteer, Hope carves out a special place in my heart. She is an amazingly strong child. When I see her smile, even days after you passed, I know you are still here with us. I will miss you, friend. When we meet on the other side, we are going to have a wicked game of Simpsons trivia. Thanks for being yourself, Mike, you loved life and lived it well. I will miss you!

Mike and I went on the Worthington Field Studies trip back in 1983. I have found memories of Mike on this trip. He always had a smile and made everyone laugh. He will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Riebel family.

It is my heartfelt belief that the world suffers at the loss of a man, a son, a brother, a friend, and, above all else, a father as sincere and caring as Mike. Hope, your father was one of the best I have known. He loved you without bounds; you were the center of his world. Your memories and your daddy's love and spirit live forever in you. I only knew Michael for the last year, but I loved him very much. My love goes out to his family, especially Hope. Michael talked about her all the time. The last picture he sent me was of Hope in rollers...making sure to tell me that he had put them in, all by himself. I will never forget him.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing-I knew him from doing business with him-he was a great positive person and a great Dad. I remember the first time he brought his beautiful daughter by my open house to drop off papers for me and I have never seen a Dad so thrilled with his little girl.He will be missed and I pray that Hope will make it through this hard time. You really took me by suprize. I'm left with a light and heavy heart all at once.
I think of our seasons together and the times that were.
Our early years of Pop tarts and mischief. The road trips, 3rd shifts, maple syrup, Colorado Rose and Cub foods. Motorcycles, wide smiles and things too odd to be believed.
Keeper of my secrets and backer of my dreams - never a nasty word or judgement.
Worry not my friend. I, along with many others, will keep a watchfull eye on your gifts left behind. You have a loyal friend in me, always.

I only had a chance to work with Mike for a very short time, but he will forever be remembered. He was always cracking jokes, always laughing, and Mike ALWAYS cared about people. No matter what happened, no matter what the client or prospect said, he would handle it well, and just try to listen and understand the person.
He was a very wise man, and good man at heart. He always talked about Hope, and I truly wish the best for his family and friends.

There's a big hole in our lives without Mike. I've been thinking about him non-stop: from his gardening advice, brussel sprout recipes, to his recent Bill Hicks impression. I didn't know how much he made me laugh and how often 'til now.

I can't believe that he is gone. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mike face to face. We became friends online and talked for a few years. He is a great person all around and a wonderful dad. Wonderful to see how many others felt like I do about Mike. Though I never called him Mike, I used Riebs or Riebel and he called me Wheat Dough. It was that way from when we met in High School. He made me laugh while I was trying to get angry.
He was there for me in some of my toughest times, always showing up when requested, late but there. His intelligence, diverse knowledge and that gift of "sincere interest" made him an excellent wingman.
I won't fully know how much I will miss Riebel for a long long time.
Hope- the girls say "her mommy is nice!"
Can't wait to see you. We love you.
Matt- he told me -he used to cheat you blind in Monopoly and kinda thought it was part of the game. This he said during a full out game with an 8,9,10 year old.
Family- Now I know where he got it from.

This is still so hard to believe. He was our comedian, our pontificator, our conversationalist. You really, truly could not go anywhere with Mike and not run into someone he knew. He always, always made you laugh, even when he was driving you nuts with his opinions on everything. We are so blessed to have had him in our lives, and so devastated that he is gone.
Hope, you are a beautiful, lovely girl who we have enjoyed watching grow. I love how you notice when a letter in an electronic store sign is out ("roger" instead of "Kroger"). I love how patient and kind you are with Kai. He woke up yesterday and said, "Hope is nice to me". We all love you so much and will be with you every step of the way as you journey through your life. You were the light and purpose of your Dad's life and we will do our best to back him up now that he has moved on. You are strong, intelligent and talented and we can't wait to see what you do with your life.

At Worthington High School Mike was such a great classmate! His funny, lighthearted domineer made him so approachable and easy to get to know and befriend. We were very fortunate to have him as a friend and classmate and for many of us unfortunate to lose contact with over the years. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.
