Dr, Gemma helped train me in anesthesiology at Ohio State between 1976 and 1978. I always regretted that due to the administrative arrangement blow-ups at the university in the late 1970s I was never able to become his full professional partner; however, I was able to be very peripherally associated with him when I was at Grant Hospital in later years. What a fine teacher. What a fine staff man to be with you when you were doing a case. One of the ideal teaching anesthesiologists. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dear Esther and family,
We have you in our thoughts and prayers. Dick was a wonderful man and I loved working with him and for him. He was a help in any situation, and was always there if you needed him. He was greatly missed when he retired. Our love to you and your family.
