Although we didn't know Bob very well, we heard lots of good stories from daughter Chrissy and other good friends in Tampa. Please accept our deepest sympathies and we hope your good memories will continue to keep him alive in your hearts.

Bob was the Dad I wished I had, caring and loving and a good friend. Jerry and I looked forward to seeing him and May whenever they came to Tampa; it was always a special time. We will miss talking (arguing) sports and just trading stories. Bob was a man with a giant heart and proved it many times over; the world has lost a wonderful person, but God has gained a pure spirit.

My name is Mike Mavromatis. From the time I was a little boy my father has always owned a retail business and since I was a young boy I have always been a part of that business, either hanging out with my dad, working for him or ultimately taking over the business. Throughout all of those years I have encountered hundreds of thousands of people, as our business turned 60 years old, this year. Prior to my first child being born 24 years ago my life became enriched when I met Bob at our lunch counter. For many years my day was made better by having that special friend stopping in and sharing many hours of conversation with me. Throughout life you meet many different people and in my case I meet a great many. Bob your one of the most special of all of those people! We shared many thoughts, stories and some tall tails over the years. Bob, you instilled in me hope for our society, as you are one of the kindest, most genuine man, friend, I have ever met! Your passion for the Buckeye's and History taught me a great deal as we swapped thoughts and I learned from you! your dedication to helping others and your gentle warm way of always finding something happy to chat about. And when I needed you, you were always there for me, as you played a large role in seeing me through two weddings! I was blessed to be able to meet and interact with your lovely wife May and your children. Though I never did get to see May dance on any tables, your words created a lasting vision in my mind! and your children are truly your legacy! They each have the big heart which guided your life. When I struggled seeing you every day meant even more. Your life with May gave me hope that true love was possible and that a special mate for life was more than a mere dream. As Dawn and I married you were there to help us and I found my true love, my mate for life. Bob I can never thank you for all of those share words, thoughts and moments, as life moves on by. But, I want you to know that those memories are very much alive and played a part in helping me become a good husband and a good father. When you walked through our doors you made my day better, each and every time! Bob you are one of those special people who had a way of giving of yourself which made others feel better about themselves, just by being you!

Grandpa Karnes was a good friend to me and always treated me like I was his own grandson. I only knew him for around three and a half years and during that time he made a big impact on my life.
I will miss all of his stories, his love of noodle soup and bung baloney, his sense of humor, his love for life, and all of the other things that made him such a special man.
We'll miss you Grandpa! Thanks for being such a great guy and a good buddy.

A friend as special, as true, as dear as Bob are rare and hard to find. One of my favorite lines from him was "True friends are those you love in spite of their faults", something he practiced faithfully.
My family and I have many wonderful memories as do all those who loved and treasured his friendship.
The morning sunrise and the evening sunset will always serve to bring gratitude and praise to God for bringing Bob's presence in our lives for so many years.
