Rodney Young Obituary

YOUNG Rodney Young, age 57, of Marengo, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic. Rod was born on December 15, 1953 in Columbus to the late Henry Young and Gladys (McDowell) Young of Columbus. A graduate of Central High School in 1971, he spent the last 39 years working as a telecommunications specialist for AT&T. Rod was a man of deep and abiding faith and a member and deacon at Westerville Free Will Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday school and ran sound and video. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, as well as his John Deere tractor. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Rod was an enthusiastic ham radio operator using the call letters: "W8FD". Both strong and wise, he was loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his devotion to God and the love he had for his family and friends. He would remind us all that his passing is just another example of "The hand of God in the glove of human events." He is also survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Nancy (Springston); children, Angela Young (fiancé, Donny Barnard) of Marengo, Riley (Kristin) Young of Northport, AL, Molly Young (fiancé Brandon Cromer) of Marengo; granddaughter, Mackenzie; brother, Harold (Charlotte) Young of Columbus; sisters, Sharon Jebavy of Botkins, Regenia (Gene) Castle of Columbus; as well as a loving extended family. Friends may call Thursday 4-8 p.m. at DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR's 3 at 61, Sunbury. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Westerville Free Will Baptist Church, 390 E. College Ave., Westerville, with Pastor Paul Etterling officiating. Interment Marengo Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Westerville Free Will Baptist Church.
