Roger, you were my first mentor and champion at Otterbein. In my work-study job as a freshman in 1971, I worked for you in the data center. I learned so much from you about technology and kindness, and you opened doors for me. Thank you forever. Best regards, Bruce

To the Wiley family,
I extend my sympathies to you all in the passing of Professor Wiley. I was a math major at Otterbein from 1969-73. I also worked part time in the math office. I remember him as a great teacher and a nice man.

Roger was always one of my favorite uncles. I'm so glad that my mom and I got to see him last year. He still had his unique sense of humor. I will miss him.

Dear Betty and Family,
Please accept Elizabeth and my condolences. Roger was one of very few special people we will ever have the honor of knowing. He was always the educator; caring, professional, tireless, positive, and invariably provided solutions. His wit was unmatched. He will be fondly remembered.

Dear Family:
It was a personal and professional honor to have known and worked with Roger at Otterbein for many years. I enjoyed his sense of humor. He was most helpful to me as I struggled with the new technology of computers. I was also honored to have Stephan in class. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

I had the privilege of working with Roger at Otterbein - he was so helpful to me as I made the transition as a new employee. In fact, as I sign on to my computer each day, I still use the password that Roger suggested I use. It brings back fond memories of that day as he helped me set up my account. He was so patient, and funny! He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed!

Dear Wiley family --
Please accept my deepest condolences upon Roger's passing. I was a student in many of his math classes at Otterbein in the late 60's, and I always enjoyed seeing him on campus from time to time. I will always remember fondly the kind and gentle man that Roger was. May your many good memories bear you up beyond your grief, to a place of peace and comfort.
Sincerely,

Roger was my favorite professor at Otterbein. I was a math major and almost certainly could not have been successful at it if it was not for his skill as a teacher.
He was both a mentor and an inspiration to all of us.

Betty, Susan, and Stephen, and the rest of Roger's family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your sorrow. I worked with Roger for many years and also considered him a friend. He was wise and generous with his many skills, always going out of his way to help, even before he was asked. He was kind, compassionate, caring, funny and fun to be around. He loved you all very much and was so very proud of his long, loving marriage, the accomplishments of his children, and grandson Patrick, the light of his life. I'll always think of him with a smile on his face and hear his laugh as I remember Roger for the good man he was.
He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him. He was blessed with a great family, fulfilling work, many friends, and a life well lived.
