Ronald "Ron" Thomann, 81, passed to the Lord's care surrounded by the love of his family and devoted wife, Carolyn, during his final days battling leukemia at his beloved log cabin home in Westerville, OH. Ronald was born in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Frank) Thomann. He attended Kenmore High School, Class of '54 and graduated from The University of Buffalo in 1958. He later earned a law degree and his CPCU designation. Ron worked in the claims dept for several large insurance companies over his career, retiring in 2000 from State Auto Insurance Co. in Columbus. Ron's lifelong hobby and passion was buying, selling, and restoring classic cars, specifically Dodges and Plymouths. He was a member of Inliners International and Plymouth Owners Clubs and loved attending car shows. His most cherished times, however, were spent with his family and extended family. Ron's sense of humor and kindness will long be remembered by everyone he knew. He survived by his wife, Carolyn (Stacey) Thomann and her 4 children and their families; his 3 children, Christopher Thomann, Jennifer Reesha (Joseph) Alpino and Beth Marie (Curt) Nierman from his first marriage to Jeanette (Mundhenke) Thomann; his grandchildren, Angela, Ryan, and Christina Thomann, Zachary Reesha, Sam and Rachel Nierman; three great grandchildren; and sister, Carol (Thomann) Williams and her family. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, April 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 East Walnut Street, Westerville, OH 43081.
